the game runs a lot better for me now that I turned off AA...the game also looks a lot better once the night scenes ended and the sun came out...the sand looks photo realistic...water effets aren't as good as Half Life 2/Source Engine but they still look very nice (although very similar to Far Cry)

I'm now running at 1360 x 1020, no AA, all graphic options on 'High'...decent frame rates and no bugs so far

I'm really starting to love this game now that I've gotten used to the layout and especially the nanosuit and its capabilities...like zapionics said earlier the suit is almost too powerful...I love cloaking and then shooting the enemies with my non-lethal tranquilizer darts which puts them to sleep for a short while...then I can kill them while they are asleep or just leave them there

the nanosuit offers endless possibilities...I was wondering why my character walked so slowly but then I realized that you need to use the nanosuit Speed boost in order to have him walk at a fast pace...the Strength, Cloak, Speed and Weapons mods are so unique and can be used in so many different ways

and every vehicle is driveable---jeeps, boats etc

the graphics really are amazing...take a look at some more screenshots

vehicle driving doesn't seem as smooth as in Fry Cry...in Crysis you can even change seats inside the car and sit wherever you want to, in the front or even the back

FREAKING AWESOME DEMO.
Jeez...you can even map vehicle controls separate from your foot movement controls.

Re: Crysis

Ok, benchmarks on this older generation system for anyone running older hardware this will give you an idea of performance.

Canterwood board (875P), P4 3.2GHz, 2GB DDR and a X1950PRO 256MB AGP vid card;

First test is at 1024x768 with all settings on HIGH and no AA:

Running GPU benchmark 1
Results will depend on current system settings
Press any key to continue . . .
Running...

Its a bit choppy.

I tried various settings and combinations and found that setting the physics, shaders and shadows at medium gives the only benefit, everything else is the same as in the first test:

At these settings the gameplay is fairly smooth and its quite playable. If you havent got the budget to upgrade and you have an older generation system similar to this then I cant see any reason why you shouldnt choose to play it at these settings since the gameplay is fairly smooth and graphics quality is excellent at this resolution, as far as I can see from this demo.

As for me I've already decided I will be upgrading to play this game. My Canterwood board has done many games such as GTA:SA, Doom3, CoR, Oblivion, CoD2, Half Life 2, and Bioshock, and I have to say I've gotten my monies worth and will be sorry to see it go, but it has finally hit the wall with Crysis.

Re: Crysis

I'm running at 1680x1050 with everything on "high" (no AA) and the game runs as smooth as glass and looks stunningly beautiful.

Man, this demo has gotten me more excited than I thought I'd be. It really is impressive. And all without Vista and DX10.

Re: Crysis

I have read posts from people that have overclocked CPU’s (even quad cores) and GPU’s only to say that it is unplayable. The only thing that I am doing different is resolution and no AA. With everything at high and what I read I thought I was going to be watching the Zapruder film. But it was smooth enough that in the areas when a dip did occur, which wasn’t much if any loss in FPS, that made me go “this sucks it is slow.”

Delta AI is much better and what I needed. They do speak a little English still though, not much as they used to. On Delta you do not lure them as much and it does not make your attacks less effective against them. However, they can spot a needle in a hay stack. You can be far away almost fully covered and a boat gunner will lay down the LMG.

just finished the demo...wow the graphics are stunning...after a slow start the game really gets into its own once the sun rises---graphically and gameplay wise...the lighting and shadows are the best I have ever seen---the way the sunlight glistens through the trees and casts shadows on your body and on the ground is beautiful...also anytime any light source (even the flashlight) hits leaves, grass or trees it looks amazing...even the rock formations towards the end of the level look stunning...and the sand casts footprints and tire tracks etc etc...the guys at Crytek really know their stuff

hopefully the game will get some updated ATI drivers before the official release date and a bit more optimizations

I was able to turn on 2X AA and get some decent frame rates as well...so 1360 x 1020, AA= 2X and all graphic options on 'High' was my configuration

I think the additional 256MB of DDR on the video card would surely help.
If you have a minute would you do a benchmark, it would be interesting to see what the card can do.

(Just navigate to the games folder and click the .bat file; GPU test.

Nice screenies

even though the FPS average is low it actually plays better then the scores indicate...it's actually very playable with no noticable choppiness

I disagree...I think that the difference between 'High' and 'Very High' is minimal but you can see the differences...but the difference between 'Medium' and 'High' is actually pretty big from what I've seen

if you can't play the game at 'High' or 'Very High' (DX 10 only) I don't think it is worth it...I'm sure the gameplay alone will be fun even without the really nice graphics but I think the graphics add a lot to the overall experience
