it requires both a serial number and online activation (even for single player)

if there is an installation limit I doubt it will be in place for very long...just like Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc gaming manufacturers seem to remove them pretty quickly after getting widespread criticism...most likely any limits on install will only be in place for a short while shortly after the game's release and then removed altogether

I've heard rumors of Warhead having a 3 install limit but nothing official...I also reformat very often but this does not worry be anymore as I've seen a lot of games come out recently with hard core DRM policies only for them to back off pretty quickly

I changed my resolution back to 1600 x 1200 with all graphical settings on 'Enthusiast' and AA=2X...game is playable with those settings...not ideal FPS but playable for me

OK...the Ice level hit and there's no way in hell I can play the game on the 'Enthusiast' setting anymore (nice try 8800GT )...way too big of a hit in frame rates...so I switched it to 'Gamer' setting and everything is very very smooth and still looks amazing...except for some lighting effects the difference in visual quality is not that big

still pretty impressive that I can play in DX10 at 1600 x 1200, AA=2X on the Gamer aka High setting with my 8800GT

the Ice levels are much better this time around...the alien AI is also better...and the graphics look even more impressive...the aliens now have this special alien who uses a shield generator to protect the other aliens, so you need to kill this guy first

Re: Crysis Warhead

Well it was fun but I only got about 4 hrs of play time out of it. The game should have been 10 bucks not 30.00.

it's taking me longer then 4 hours (still not finished...just got into the mine level)...but I love to explore everything...there is one section in Warhead where the objective was to meet up with some group of soldiers but I went the opposite direction first to do some exploring and geez there seemed to be another mini level with a ton of aliens, paths, roads, houses etc...I thought for sure that this would be part of the main quest later on but it wasn't, I guess it was just a bonus area to explore

this game is a lot more fun then Crysis...very action heavy and faster paced with gorgeous graphics

Re: Crysis Warhead

1280x1024 Gamer. I set shadows to Mainstream and motion blur off. AA/AF is off. I modified the settings not because of performance issues but for preference. Getting 48 - 70 FPS at the cafe and surrounding area.

I am riding all over the place in the APC. No rush to move on.

this game feels more open ended then Crysis...even though the game is linear it doesn't feel it...you have the option to do missions the way you want to---no set path...there is a certain mission later on where you are put on a train (also one which places you in an armored vehicle)...you can travel the whole way by vehicle but I choose to jump off immediately and go the whole way on foot...much more fun...more places to see and explore...plus when traveling by vehicle things go by too quickly and you don't get a chance to enjoy your surroundings

any time they put me in a vehicle I like to get out and explore on foot while using the vehicle to blow stuff up

Re: Crysis Warhead

I just spent about 10 minutes at a road block early in the game where there are a couple of tripod mounted grenade launchers----shoots like a pom-pom gun....

Had a ball hunting the quail or whatever those birds are that run around on the road.....

Blows them sky high!!!

Still experimenting with graphics settings but so far----the game is very smooth.....the only glitches came in the opening scenes where I got a tad of stuttering.....

I'm really liking this game a lot...I'm on the last level and the previous 'train' Level was really good...reminded me of the last level in Gears of War...the Ice levels are just as good as the Korean army ones and the game doesn't drop off at any time---in fact it seems to just get better and better

there was only 1 area which I felt was 100% linear (the mine shaft)...other then that it seems like every mission has multiple paths to take

nice jobs by the guys over at Crytek in addressing the major flaws from the previous game and improving upon the game in almost every aspect...I liked Crysis but Warhead raises the bar
