| I just finished the game...WOW...the game is amazing right to the very last second...reminds me a lot of the first 2 Alien movies and that's a good thing...don't let the 3rd person POV turn you off as I'm sure you'll get used to it the best horror/survival game I've played in years and maybe one of my all time favs...unique twist on the typical space survival game with unique weapons, gameplay etc...should be a Game of the Year candidate (although Fallout 3 should win Game of the Year) check out this video review of the game...which does a better job of showcasing the game...screenshots don't do it justice Dead Space Review in High Definition – G4tv.com

| Re: Dead Space (PC) I just started playing this game today on my Xbox. I had to go get my Xbox replaced after it RRoD'd on me ... but the replacement was surprisingly quick and painless. I'm sitting here in my living room w/o any lights ... and I'm soo scared. Great game!

| Re: Dead Space (PC) Bought this a while ago, found that controls cannot be remapped (no excuse for this lameness in 2008) and put it away til it's properly patched, if ever. Third person was a bit of a turnoff, but i knew that going into it...character turning feels like I'm on gimbals, somehow does not feel "natural'. Oh well...wait and see I guess....

| Re: Dead Space (PC) Never say never, (I was referring to the arrow keys, polony) it seems that things can be rectified with a hex editor if you are comfortable with doing so. I have done this and will confirm that it works...I can play Dead Space with the arrow keys for movement KennyNet » Dead Space with Arrow Keys!

"Alternatively if that’s too much like hard work you can download my pre-modified controls.rmp file below which is set to use the arrow keys" so how does this work?...just download it and place it in the Dead Space folder?

Also, for those experiencing mouse lag, set your v sync to application control in video card control panel and set v sync to off in ingame gui video section...works a treat and so far no tearing of textures for me.

| Re: Dead Space (PC) I've thought about getting this game but the control issues worry me. I like to map my forward movement key to one of my mouse buttons. Can this be done with this game? If not I won't get the game.

| Re: Dead Space (PC) The movement keys are seemingly hard coded to the WASD configuration in Dead Space (a consequence of it being a console port), so you will need to actually hex edit a specific configuration file to remap it...this will take a knowledge of what offset needs to have it's value changed and ofc what to change it to...not an easy task if you are just randomly trying to decipher what they might have done. Unless someone does this and posts it or you are a skilled file hacker I would say the answer is "no". Ofc EA might wake up and smell the coffee, but that is doubtful imo.

| Re: Dead Space (PC) I could have been clearer on path...for Vista it is C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\Dead Space Screenshot showing pathing attached ![]() also remember...you need hidden files turned on as well ...with Vista enter windows explorer and hit ALT key to get drop down menu for folder options and turn on "show hidden files"

| Re: Dead Space (PC) I would imagine that there's always the risk of breaking something using the wrong values in the wrong place, but that's why I suggest backing up the file before playing about...worse case scenario would be breaking something so badly that you needed to reinstall, but hey, it's a game. (On the other hand, if your machine starts smoking and spitting sparks and flame...I told you there were risks!... ) ![]()
