Yep.

I have got to get Goblin Wars installed.

They had some really good screen shots of Goblin Wars up. I can't find them now. I may have downloaded them. I'll have to look. Screen shots of one of the large Goblin tribes heading down the road towards where ever they were going. All 20+ of them.

Bethesda Softworks has released a new patch for the PC version of their fantasy RPG Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which can be downloaded at the game's official web site. The small 1.2 version patch is mainly for bug fixes...

Looks more like it's to load new "Achievements" for the xbox.

Are "Achievements" really needed to keep the attention of the average xbox player?

I installed the patch and didnt encounter any problems. Dont really notice much improvement, but it doesnt look bad either. I had a lod hack installed a while back so maybe I'm just used to it.

the new 1.2 patch is more then just bug and quest fixes, a major graphics improvement has been added...the patch has improved the way distant terrain textures transition to the more detailed textures as you approach them. Instead of suddenly changing from blurry to detailed, the two are blended together smoothly. This is controlled by one of the new .ini variables added to the Oblivion.ini file called bLandscapeBlend

users are reporting this to be working very well with distant textures looking a lot better

you're probably right...I probably heard length of distance when reading about the changes with this patch and assumed that's what LOD stood for

I almost installed the patch over the weekend but decided to not before doing a bit of reading.
The LOD changes in particular were of interest to me, as I have at least one user installed MOD that does much of what the patch claims to do, although I wasn't aware of the blending effect until I read poly's post.

I need to do a little more research on potential conflict resolution before I install a patch on what is now - for me - a perfectly functioning game.
Likely, that patch is included in Shivering Isles so I'd better get cracking.
