| Finally !!!!! Shivering Isles was installed last night. Have not yet done much of it. Just went to the "Door" and looked inside. Make sure the 3rd NPC who comes running out is defeated by the guard or Sheogorath won't speak. Seems to be a slight bug. He fell in the water and the guard couldn't find him. ![]() __________________ Asus P4P800 Deluxe Intel P4 3.2 Extreme Edition @ 3.50 / Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu / Arctic Silver Ceramique 4x1024 OCZ PC3200 EL Dual Ch High Performance Platinum Edition @ 2-2-2-5 ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X800 XT / Samsung Syncmaster 215TW 21" Wide Screen LCD Two Western Digital RE2 500 Gb YS Raid Edition SATA hdd's Two Western Digital 250 Gb Raid Edition hdd's Two Western Digital My Book 500 Gb external USB2/Firewire hard drives LiteOn 165H6S DVD Super AllWriter / LiteOn 166s 16x DVD-Rom Onboard LAN Antec SX1240 full tower Soundblaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum / CambridgeSoundworks 5.1 DTT 3500 Digital Speakers Logitech G5 Laser Mouse Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Razer eXactMat + eXactRest win2000 |

| A fun world that shivering isles. When I finished the quests, I realized just how much I hate the leveling system. I didn't keep exploring the island because it was just more of the same. In bloodmoon for example, I walked over the whole map. |

| I just leveled up to 35 last night, but then I'm running Francesco's mod. One of the (many!) things the mod does slow down the rate of leveling up. It is, of course, optional to do so within the mod itself. I'm already almost too powerful as it is and the mod helps to keep the game challenging. I can't imagine now playing Oblivion without it. Here's a link to the Elder Scrolls forum thread which discusses the mod. It's truly an awesome addition to Oblivion: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/in...3&hl=Francesco

| There was a big discussion about this somewhere in the thread so I will be brief. To me, it takes a lot of the fun out of exploring. Every dungeon or encounter that is not part of a special quest is basically the same. No risk, no reward. Once you have done one random dungeon crawl, you are done them all. I still loved the game, and I thought Shivering Isles was a fun expansion that was a nice change of pace -- but the leveling system kind of defeats the purpose of a "sandbox world." |

Read all about it at the above link I provided or this one for another source of information: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.co....Detail&id=268 Here's a quote: "Tired that nearly all monsters level up with you? Bored that at level 30 all the bandits of the world are god-like ones with daedric equipment? Then this mod is for you."

| I got used to the leveling up thing. Actually, I find all one on one battles relatively easy now only because I know the way the game goes. I only select the technique to take them down now. That Grummite battle .... I pop them with a couple of Wizards Fury spells, hold up my shield, and finish with whichever weapon I'm trying to get to a 100 skill level with (currently blunt weapons and block). Or one strike with Umbra if I'm soul collecting at the moment. Ahhhhhh, Legendary Restore Health. Five on one battles .... Just fancy footwork to isolate each one. Ahhhhh, an Invisible spell. I am very much into exploring and quest design. I just had some fun with DawnFang and DuskFang. The challenge for me is not me defeating the baddies, rather it's keeping the NPC's alive. Ahhhhhh Ha Ha Ha !!!!!!!!!!! ![]() __________________ Asus P4P800 Deluxe Intel P4 3.2 Extreme Edition @ 3.50 / Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu / Arctic Silver Ceramique 4x1024 OCZ PC3200 EL Dual Ch High Performance Platinum Edition @ 2-2-2-5 ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X800 XT / Samsung Syncmaster 215TW 21" Wide Screen LCD Two Western Digital RE2 500 Gb YS Raid Edition SATA hdd's Two Western Digital 250 Gb Raid Edition hdd's Two Western Digital My Book 500 Gb external USB2/Firewire hard drives LiteOn 165H6S DVD Super AllWriter / LiteOn 166s 16x DVD-Rom Onboard LAN Antec SX1240 full tower Soundblaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum / CambridgeSoundworks 5.1 DTT 3500 Digital Speakers Logitech G5 Laser Mouse Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Razer eXactMat + eXactRest win2000 [/QUOTE] |

| And it does so much more than that, especially of you get all the optional files. It's very, very cool.
