So TQ, I believe the combat system will more or less more like a FPS based system, yes?

Doesn't that mean that fighting every single creep in the world will get tiresome very quickly. Do you know if there is a "auto-resolve combat" option or something or a quick combat option.

But looking at what I've read about this, after finishing neverwinter nights, this will be on my high priority list of games...!

How you will progress in your skill sets is based on use. The more you whack, the better you become.
The combat system has been overhauled, though. No more examples of swinging a sword, seeing it hit but pass right through your enemy.

Oblivion will be light years beyond what Morrowind was, just as Morrowind was so far advanced over other RPG's of its time.
(Not counting Neverwinter, of course, which was released the same year as Morrowind but a different sort of game entirely...)

Well, for many, that's one of the fun things about this sort of non-D&D based RPG: fighting (or using various items) to increase your skills.
If one had the option to just "level up" without the work it woudn't be an RPG.
I'll trust that the devs have taken a hard look at what worked with Morrowind and what didn't.
A personal peeve of mine was the fact that your character could get his behind kicked by a fish early on in the game.

Um, I'll say it again:

Suspense is killing me !!! Hope this is as great as Morrowind is but much better! They have had so much time to learn from their failures and from their successes!

Just hope it inspires the same kind of wonder and awe with beautiful and fantastic scenery and locations!
Interesting quests!
Huge maps to explore!
Brilliant hardware punishing graphics!
100's hours of gameplay!
And treasure, lots of treasure!

I'm looking forward to Oblivion also, but I never completed Morrowind, I was probably about half way through before I stopped playing. Can't remember what other game took my attention at the time but I never went back to it.

One of the best things about Morrowind was that it wasnt necessary to complete it in order to enjoy it. I used to like just going for long walks and exploring new places. (Same thing I used to do with Carnivores 2.) Wish they had put some interesting scenery and places in Far Cry...

Oh believe me, I'm just as excited about it as you (okay maybe close then)....

I'm now downloading those movies because to be honest I haven't seen any of them.

But RPG based games are definitely my thing... Now in chapter 3 of NWN and I'm loving it! I know the elder scrolls is a bit different but still...

Well, once you've completed NWN and Oblivion and you need an RPG fix you might take a look at Dungeon Siege 2. While it's certainly no NWN it is pretty fun.
If NWN is a "10" DS2 is a "6". Not a classic but worth a spin.
It's funny, though, because a movie is being made that is loosly based on the Dungeon Siege series.

Hehehe... with the amount of play still in nwn and its expansions AND oblivion I gather I will be busy for the next year or so. I've just started in chapter 3 in nwn.

BTW: those movies looked fantastic. Especially the one with the forest, all dynamically generated. Wow... This is going to hog my system.

Now if you will excuse me, back to nwn!
