| Create your own Cache??? Can you create your own special Cache----and it will last between levels and game restarts??? I'd love to drop off suits, equiment, ammo, first Aid kits, food and weapons at some deserted spot----and be able to come back to it any time during the game to re-equip----regardless if I had to come from a different level. Is this possible????

| S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shader Mod: (snipped from Blues News) "A post on the Ars forums offers the release of the Float32 modification for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, which beefs up the already impressive graphics in GSC Game World's first-person shooter (thanks Doormat). Word is: "Full reflection vector calculations, better bump mapping, real specular effects! All this detail improvement costs nothing in framerate and you will get 20% better framerate than before if not more! Shadows are soft and no longer jagged and the overall graphical quality has been vastly improved. I am not posting screenies as it does no justice. Download it and see for yourself!" It's about ten posts down... So STALKER *is* finally out + Modding on pg. 10! - Topic Powered by eve community

But then I've got piles of sausages, 18mm ammo, tinned meat and other arbitrary stuff just lying on the floor in certain spots I pass often. Dropped by me a very long time ago. You could probably just leave your stuff lying around. I doubt it will disappear. You could also probably put it in a stash.

| I've been using the Obokan with Scope and I love it. I have now come across the obokan with Grenade Launcher. Can / is there a way to take the scope of the other rifle and attach it to the GL rifle so I can have a two in one. Is the GL rifle any use. So far I have only found one of those white Grenades to go in the Rifle. ?

| It sounds pretty good TQ. Can never be sure that a user mod wont break something or upset future patches tho. Game experience may also change if the look is different to what the original designers intended themselves. I might give it a go.

| Anyone try this mod???? Quote:
I had to turn off Prefetching for the game as it was causing quicksaves to crash constantly!! Every other quicksave would cause the game to crash to desktop----the TQS guys recommend if you have a 8800GTX and Vista----and you are suffering from this problem------turning off prefetching which is really meant for lower level machines. I see no difference in graphics quality and it did indeed stop the crashes (at least so far)... It started happening the second I entered the Army Warehouse level.....weird... I wonder if that would affect this mod?? | |

| I'll install it as soon as I start playing the game. The guys on Ar's website were raving about it.

| Interesting little snip from Firing Squad today: "Now that we’ve taken a look at how S.T.A.L.K.E.R. performs with over a dozen different mainstream graphics cards, today we’re going to evaluate the game’s performance with a wide variety of CPUs. As end users have quickly found out, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a very demanding game, but is it more graphically intensive or does the game lean more CPU-bound? Perhaps it’s more of a 50/50 ratio? That’s what we’re here today to find out. We’ll primarily be testing two configurations: a GeForce 7900 GTX SLI config, and a single GeForce 7900 GS. We’re still waiting on NVIDIA’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R. driver for the GeForce 8800 cards, which we’ve been told will bring improved GeForce 8800 GTX performance as well as adding GeForce 8 SLI support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. As it stands right now, a pair of 7900 GTX cards is slightly faster than a single GeForce 8800 GTX in our testing, although we expect that to change once NVIDIA’s new driver is ready."

| Yep. Dont notice much difference in the visuals yet. They dont look any worse. It all looks pretty good, but it did before. Hasnt affected performance that I can tell. If I dont end up seeing any difference then I'll revert back to the original in case of any future issues.

| Well, I had a crash to desktop and that hasnt happened before so I pulled the mod out and reverted back to standard. I think it was helping my framerate tho, so its too bad. The game just keeps getting better and better as you play on, IMO. The atmosphere is fantastic. I'm wandering around the red forest and this place is creepy. The trees have grown into weird shapes with the high radiation here, and they look grotesque in the flashes of lightning. Strange sounds everywhere and the damn zombies keep coming. This game is keeping me up at night ![]()
