Good to hear you made it all the way to the true ending.

Did you roam around on the ground where it was safe to do so?

Sad situation involving TQ - life goes on.

I started over again. Got hung up helping duty. Seems I can't find Max to get out of the situation. Good thing I have some prior saves this time. This is a great game - I am savoring every moment of it. I am devoted to killing every dog this time.

We know there is going to be an expansion pack for this game - right?

sort of....there are going to be some new games announced that take place in the Stalker universe...don't know if that means an expansion or a new game using the same setting

also I hear that patch 1.0004 is complete and will be released in the next few days...although 1.0003 is working pretty much perfect for me so I'm not gonna install 1.0004 until I finish my current game and start a new one

rumored patch 1.0004 improvements

- optimized dual core support
- 15% FPS increase
- shader optimization, increasing FPS by 5-10%

Anton Bolshakov, project manager at GSC Game World, announced yesterday, that patch 1.0004 has been at THQ for some time for approval. Since there haven't been any reports about programming mistakes in patch 1.0004 on the part of THQ, it should be only a matter of days till the release

1.0004 has new shader code from the float32 mod (www.thefloatingpoint.com) which i have tried and do improve the graphics and framerates. The 15% fps increase is news to me, and dual core optimization would be nice since this circa 2003 (origian release date, and what the graphics look like) game runs like a dog on my 2006 system!

For me, if they take the games out of chernobyl, i will loose interest very quickly because the setting is one of the coolest i have played in, and a large chunk of what got my interest in the first place.

Great news. I thought it was optimized for dual core already. I seen so much of an improvement when I abandoned my old 875 chipset in favor of my current rig, I was tickled pink. If I can get additional performance improvements as well - I love it.

I'll keep my eyes open for the new patch. I am going to assume it won't work with prior saves?

same request here, i had (still have toa point) a serious phobia of dogs, and this game certainly doesn't help at all, especially the red forest!

Sorry to hear about the phobia - I've always owned dogs and I have two now. Could not imagine a world without them. In STALKER they are a royal pain in the ****!

Had a phobia about flying once, Navy parachute training solved that problem. It was not flying I was afraid of, it was the sudden impact on the ground that got me hyper.

it is because when i was really young (4-5) i had about 10 major incidents with dogs running after me, chasing me, jumping me. they were all bigger, meaner and tougher than me. Also at age 12, to cement that, i was chased by a rabid dog for miles a couple of times
