This was actually one of the many things that endeared me to this game...the organic nature of it. I'd never seen a game kill a job before Stalker. Oh sure, I'd seen weird exploits but never watched the environment kill a target as I...uh..."stalked" it.

Oh yeah !!!

Especially the twister anomolies.

Many times I would draw a target who was chasing me into an anomoly. I always got a chuckle watching them get tossed around up in the air. There were a few other similiar scenarios I enjoyed.

Another example is when I came under heavy fire from a group of about 4 bandits north of Cordon. I was suppressed and pinned down with very little protection and ammo, hiding behind a tree. As I sat there trying to make up my mind as to whether to try and shoot it out or run for it, a pack of mutant dogs over ran them all and took them down one by one. They were yelling and shooting in all directions.

I then quietly slipped off north as the pack sat there munching on their bones.

Heh, dont worry, as soon as he falls victim to an anomaly or mutant you will get a message on your PDA to go collect your reward, just a matter of time in the 'zone.

rumored patch 1.0004 improvements

- optimized dual core support
- 15% FPS increase
- shader optimization, increasing FPS by 5-10%

Anton Bolshakov, project manager at GSC Game World, announced yesterday, that patch 1.0004 has been at THQ for some time for approval. Since there haven't been any reports about programming mistakes in patch 1.0004 on the part of THQ, it should be only a matter of days till the release

Changelog for patch 1.0004:

http://www.oblivion-lost.de/index.ph...ic_page=weekly
Still in the same state as what I have heard before. I was not sure if anything has changed. I have started a new game and I am far, but do not want the problem of save game incompatibility. I can start over again with no problem, but like to continue what I have started. Although, to my knowledge, Float32 will be included in the new 1.0004 patch, and I am unsure if this is where the increase in performance will come from, or not. Some of the increase seems to be due to multiple optimization types.

Yes, I tried the Float32 mod earlier and did notice an improvement in fps, but not of that magnitude, so I expect you're right.

Hopeful.....

Anything to get rid of the stuttering.....

It is really the ONLY truly bad thing about this game.....

And even with the occassional stuttering-----it's the BEST game I have played in a long, long while.....

If I understand it correctly the "Float32 patch" updates the four-year old graphics engine that is used by Stalker to a more modern implementation of DX9.
I installed it but didn't really see any difference or observe a pick up in FPS.
The game already looked and ran great on my system anyway.

I thought it actually detracted from the graphics a little, so I uninstalled it.
I talk about somewhere in a previous post.
