overall sounds like an improvement on the original (factions, weapon repair, redesigned PDA, improved AI/graphics etc) but still seems like some of the same issues remain as well (overall story, side missions repetitive and lack meaning, dialogue options etc)...I'm still very much looking forward to Clear Sky...the DX10 version sounds like it's gonna be jaw dropping

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky delayed again

and here it seemed as if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky just might have avoided the fate of its predecessor, the oft-postponed Shadow of Chernobyl. Last week, GSC Game World and Deep Silver announced the follow-up prequel to the hit PC role-playing game/shooter hybrid had gone gold. However, reminiscent of its forebear, the game would suffer a delay, if ever so slight, drifting a week beyond its initially announced August 29 release date.

Today, it appears as if GSC's Clear Sky will remain clouded over yet a bit longer. Shacknews is reporting manufacturing issues related to the North American version of the game have forced Deep Silver to put its release on hold "for a few days."...

Report: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. prequel slips - News at GameSpot

so now it looks like we won't be seeing the game until September 15th!

Re: Gold: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Hmn, it is in stock at Newegg.

Newegg.com - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky PC Game THQ - PC Games

Edit: The slip stems from a manufacturing issue specific to the North American edition, with Deep Silver forced to recall all copies that have already shipped to stores. The issue is apparently a printing error that saw the game distributed without CD keys, according to Bluesnews. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Delayed Again, Recalled from North American Retailers - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads

Guess you might want to wait. But have read forums posts and looked at screen shots. No complaints about the keys, as of yet.

the game has been released in Russia I believe, hence the screenshots...the delay will not affect the European release of the game (still set for Sept 5)...there is some confusion as to whether or not the delay will also apply to Steam

delayed twice within 2 weeks of the game's original release date!!...never heard of that before...and yes I'm anxiously looking forward to playing as well

I think he's lying...even the Newegg website lists the game as being on 'Pre-Order'...either he got a bootleg Russian version of the game or some other pre release version

interesting...don't see how they could be selling it legally though...GSC Gameworld would not allow Newegg to keep selling a game that is not even officially out yet (even going by the old release date of September 5th)...plus Newegg does not seem like the type of company that would break street dates and/or risk alienating a major gaming manufacturer

did you take a chance and buy it?...I'm curious but not enough to risk getting a copy without a CD Key or non North American copy of the game

Steam still lists the game as being unlocked on September 6th...since you do not need any CD Key to play the game when downloading it through Steam, technically the manufacturing error should not affect them

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky on Steam

although that would sure **** off a lot people who don't want to use Steam...it'll be interesting to see what happens

nice review...I've been hearing similar sentiments from other places...I also hear the game is very buggy and a patch will be released along with the game

atmosphere is where the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. shined and surprisingly it seems that it is sorely lacking in this prequel...

"Atmosphere is what Clear Sky most critically lacks, and why it could be the most disappointing PC game of 2008"

as I feared, the highly touted 'faction wars' is a dud

"Yes, you can sign up to one of multiple factions and wage ongoing territory war against their rivals. No, it doesn't mean anything, other than the opportunity for more missions and shop discounts"

same shortcomings as the original game...side missions, faction wars etc end up meaning nothing in the overall game, boring NPC dialogue, mediocre storyline...only improvements seem to be in the graphics, artifact system, anomoly 'blowouts' and cash/gear is much harder to obtain

shame as I was hoping to like this game a lot more then the original...might end up being worse

Re: Gold: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Another relatively harsh review:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Review - Page 1 // PC /// Eurogamer - Games Reviews, News and More

"Well, I suspect they were thinking about trying to create as harsh an image of the Zone as possible - it's the only explanation for something like the Bandits. Stalker's always been a survival-horror game where some of the worst creatures of horror are humans, and you have to scrimp and save to survive. But Clear Sky takes it too far - when your resources are as limited as they regularly are, you fall back on the one resource you always have plenty of: the quick-save. That said, when other horror aspects like the underground missions have been minimised and the comedic aspect of the people you meet have been pumped up, you wonder if they were just confused."

That is kind of what I said about the original -- if it is even worse here, then I certainly won't be enjoying this game.

Polonyc, let us know if you get this game because it will be interesting to see what other fans of the first game think. You could tell that both of those two reviewers really liked the original, but were "crushingly" disappointed with the prequel.
