Sorry for the Thread Jack.

My buddies have been raving about this game. But like Subzero, I don't think it's right to have to pay for a game monthly and pay to buy it.
As I said... have a look at your buds playing. You will beg, borrow and steal.
You will also NOT buy any other games for ages. Simply no need to play anything else so you can save on your gaming budget that way

I've had WoW for about a week and I think my wife is ready to leave me out of sexual frustration
I load it up after dinner and thats me gone till 2 or 3am.
My main character is already level 16 and he's a human warrior. I plan to play on the hoard side soon, maybe an Undead Mage.... and that's what I love about this game. You can play multiple games that are completely different in makeup and design.
I still stand in awe when a level 60 Paladin rides by all decked out in his finery on a massive white steed. No two of them look the same. Or a level 48 7.5 foot tall Night Elve turns into a black panther and wastes everything in sight. Simply amazing. Another thing I love are the seemless graphics. Take flight on the back of a Rok from Stormwind to the city of dwarves, Ironforge. In miles as the crow flies it must be at least 100 and you fly in real time across ever changing landscapes below you in full glorious 3D and there are NO load screens... ever!

The first month of play is free, then $15US per mth. I'd gladly pay double that to play this game.
Nuff said... I gotta go and play some now

Edit: I'm still a WoW newbie. Looking forward to members input!

Why count, I'm surprised...I thought you would "come to the dark side" (it's far more entertaining) ...lvl 23 Orc warlock with a cute little succubus minion here....although I have a lvl 32 Dwarf hunter on another server. Myfirst mmorpg....it's different for an old FPSer like me, but fun!

Hi Count, I play WoW all the time, what server is your character on? I currently have characters on Zuljin and Llane. Maybe we can meet up sometime on your server ( I will have to create another char), let me know.

Hey kswiss... I'll check which server when I get home and let you know

And Wingit... I definitely plan on creating one hell of an evil character pretty soon. Thought I'd be a goody first but not too good like those "suckup" Paladins

Count....you really interested me when you first mentioned it in the Goodnight thread. I looked it up that day and it looks like a great game.

But.....as others said. I refuse to pay a monthly fee for a game. Not for financial reasons, but on principal! It would only be worth considering if the fee was exceedingly low...like $5 or less per month.

for those thinking of starting WoW..

http://articles.filefront.com/No_Mor...;/article.html

i played the closed and open beta, and it is a good game. having been burned by dark age of camelot (yet another popular mmorpg) and its poor development, however, i swore never to play another mmorpg again.

I read that article before I bought the game but decided what the hell. Haven't had any prolems yet. Blizzard is probably cracking the whip on their IT's and servers.

I was the same as you KT.
I think it sucks paying for a game then having to pay again each mth to play.
One day, you will find a bud that has it and take a look at him playing it... very hard to resist changing your priciples after that as I mentioned earlier in the thread. I think this game is light years ahead of the rest and worthy of subsription.
Another good thing is Blizzard will be adding quests and other stuff to the W0W world all the time. The gaming fun shouldn't run out too quick!
And if you want to lay off playing for a while, don't forget you can stop and start paying for it in any month. The account management aspect is most professionaly done.

Also remember, 1st mths play is free. You can always delete your characters and sell the game to someone else with your login details. Then they can change login to what they want themselves through accounts.

No lag or problems here. I play on a US server as there's no Aussie ones. I'm unsure if Blizzard will creat any here???

Thumbs up

I play as well, on the Stonemaul server. No lag problems there!
I'm now a lvl 32 Hunter (Horde)

As for the monthly payments... I refused to pay as well... I finished HL2 inside of 10 days... ($60)
Yes, its playable again... but its still the same... really....
WoW cost me $50, with the $15 a month... 50cents a day... pretty cheap entertainment...
and its an ever changing game... huge maps, tough quests, elite quests, and quests you HAVE TO HAVE help with.

Once yea get all your buddies playing, and going on an Alliance raid and coordinating the team over TeamSpeak... all I can say is "YEA BABY!" we can kick some major butt when we get going!
Its a diff game when yea know its real people not the computer your playing...

I played SWG for a year... I thoroghly enjoy WoW MUCH better... I have a buddy been playing Everquest (1 and now 2) for about 5 years...

I'll join up on anouther server to get anouther guild going.. the ABX guild... ah... peak your interest now? We'd Rock!

We'd all have to start characters from level 1 too imogal and we can organise to get a diverse range of professions. Example... we start a game as NightElves... me a hunter, you a rogue etc + all the other buds
