Ok, I am considering joining a friend and buy WoW, and team up.

But reading over the various sites, I am unable to determine how far apart we will be when we start out.

If one of us is a Night Elf - Starting location is Teldrassil

If one of us is a Dwarf - Dun Morogh

How far apart are these. Are we likley to meet up? How hard is it to find someone?

Don't worry about any locations. You can later-on travel very easily, and after you play the game for about 10 or 15 days you can easily transport to any of the main places regardless, he seems pretty new to the game though if he's in teldrassil. I wouldn't worry about it.

I am sorry for the confusion.

My friend and I are going to go buy the game. Haven't played it at all yet. He wants to be a Dwarf, and I want to play a Night Elf. But their starting locations have us concerned. The idea is we team up and play together and learn about the game.

Are these places far apart? We don't want to have to play for 10 to 15 days to meet up, we would like to meet up from the start (example: as in City of Hero's).

That is what I am asking.

Well, I don't know my mapping so good and I am level 40, but I would personally recommend that you either start in the same location or have some patience for the gryphons, etc etc.

Gnomes and dwarves are pretty cool though, even if I am a nightelf.

Don't worry though, you'll end up meeting up later, but it would be a lot funner if you are the same race because you can then do the specific quests for eachother that only night elfs or dwarves are offered, etc etc.

WHile it wouldn;t take 15 days it would be a headache to get to each other from the beginning.

It would look like this for the dwarf.

From Ironforge you would have to cross Dun Morugh into the wetlands. Across the wetlands to menethil Harbor. Take a boat to Darkshore. Take another Boat from Darkshore to Teldrasil. ( please excuse my spelling). It could be done in a sitting but would be a headache.

Then the dwarf could set his hearthstone there and they could work together.

Or vice versa of course.

Personally I would avoid the headache and pick the same race. They dont matter (as far as stats go) in the end.

Just started my first Hoard character... Level 9 Tauran Shaman Vengencelord! Now that is hell of a lot of fun I have to say! Like getting the game new all over again. Wonderful value

I havn't seen you around too much lately. Too many raids I bet.

My little mage, Alliee, is lvl 42 now and is kicking some serious A. I was able to take down a 43 elite yesterday solo! A couple of opportune crits helped out a ton...but still, I lived!

The game is highly addictive. I started a NE Warrior as a mule and play him when his rest bonus gets maxed. I also was looking into the Shaman. But my girl is too pretty, I can;t see myself spending that much time staring at a tauren backside while running all over creation.

I now appreciate the time it takes to get to lvl 60. Have you gotten your epic mount yet? I see those every now and again and they look tight. I wish we could move around on servers.....I would love to come and play with you and the other Aussies.

Got any helpful hits for a 42?

No epic mount yet for me. I am looking for a better guild for Minaba so I can get to the Molten Core raids more reaily. I have to say that my Shaman Vengencelord is sucking my time completely now. I just cant stop playing him. So different to Alliance
Lv 16 now. Going to the instance in Ogramar tonight I hope. BTW, pretty much soloing him so far. Gotta find a good Horde guild too

Anyone need some gold? I pretty much quit, just gave my friend 20g. I have 197g left with some items, I don't want to give it all away because I might get back into the game.

In my opinion, Arathi Highland, STV, Hinterland, Tanaris, Felwood, Un'goro, Winterspring, Western Plagueland, Eastern Plagueland.....you will be lvl60 by this time...

Yes I got my mount at lvl40. Took some skimping but I made it. I was able to sell some enchants (+3dmg 1H, +5dmg 2H) for +g and 5g respectively. It added up quick even though profit on it was on 1.5-2g after the opportunity cost of the mats.

I am really enjoying my character, however I think I am going to scale things back a bunch. I am spending 25-30 hours a week on my toon and though she lvl'd fast I don;t have anything "real" to show for it. If I spent half that time working out I would be HUGE! And if I spent the other half investing in my kids then I believe I would be a better man. My kids are still young (4.5 and 11 months) and even though i only play when they are asleep I could use my time a bit more wisely.

At the end of my days will I care that I had a lvl 60 toon with an epic mount? Probably not. I still enjoy it's entertainment value, and would rather play than watch TV. But I need to get a proper perspective on things. For me that starts with things that last, and help to build the proper kingdom.

I wish you all the best in your endevours, I will still play but hoefully only 2 hours a week or so. Maybe more if time allows but I need to take care of the proper business first.
