Sorry fellas. You were right, the PII 350 isn't fast enough. I'm trying to find a replacement. Hopefully later this week I'll be able to replace it with a PIII fast enough to chip in.

The main purpose of the Beggin team was for the orphans for those of us with a SFF that wanted to be part of the other teams. For example. I have 2xMP2400 and 1xXP2600 folding for the Athlon team, one P4 3.0 Ghz for the P4 Team, and one PIII-1 Ghz for the Beggin team. There were a few of us that wanted to join a subteam but did not want to have a few low pointers still folding on our member name. The beggin team was created mainly for that purpose.

However, I do see another good purpose for the Beggin team-people that want to test their 'puters folding power without having their name appear on the folder's list. The Beggin team would be like an Anonymous account for AB.

I don't know how the other subteams would like to see Athlons on this subteam and don't want to cause a problem.

i have just installed the program and it overwrites the client.cfg when i start the program is this supposed to happen ??

this is what it puts there :

[settings]
machineid=1

[http]
active=no

well it dosent look like that in the client.cfg file it is on 1 line and has some boxes in it but when i copy and paste it it turns out that way

edit: got the Graphical client working properly but would rather use the text only client since it seems like it would use more cpu cycles and less ram to fold

I couldn't find a difference to speak of ( less than 2% ) between the graphical client on the desktop and as a service. Why would the text-only client perform better?

not sure but it seems like it would use more of your cpu to pull up the images

but i could be wrong

The console program is normally considered more efficient for folding than the GUI. This is based on the opinions from the folding forums.

When you are running it as a service, there is no GUI

Great, what are you going to buy? Dual Athlons?

Much easier to sell them if the buyer sees they are useful to you.
Show them folding like mad, and don't delete the F@H directory when the buyer comes to pick them up.
