I installed in a separate folder, but when I try to start it, I get the following:

"There is already a Folding@Home running. Only one copy may be run at one time."

Are you sure you have HT runnning?

That message sound as though you are trying to run the console from inside the same folder.

Or are you running the windows version?

I believe you have to configure each with a different Machine ID. I expect your first folding install is configured with the default Machine ID #1, so shut that one down and start the new folding install and configure it to ID#2, then see if the first one will start up at the same time.

1. HT is enabled - I'm pretty sure it's running (I just finished building this machine and maybe I don't really understand HT tho I know it's enabled)

2. The first instance of the console is in the Folding@Home folder
The second instance of the console is in the Folding@Home2 folder

3. They are the windows consoles

Ok thanks again -- I'll allow the one running to finish and re-set it up in a dos console.

You can run 1 windows console and 1 text console. You have to make sure the windows console starts first and the text console starts second. Create shortcuts for both and add "-advmethods -local" to the target field. Also, in the text console, select machine ID to be 2. Once you have completed making these shortcuts, pause your windows console when it completes a frame, close it down, then restart it. Now you can startup the text console. Both consoles will start folding.

Check this thread out for more information: 2 instances on P4 Hyperthreading.
