I also just joined the ranks here. I have been running Seti and Einstein at Home. And now that Einstien is off it's feet (I was an alpha tester) I figured I would help out.

Welcome aboard h20-ski! If you need any help with configuring consoles, just let us know. The same goes for any questions that you might have.

I think I have both consoles running correctly. One is set up as machine id 1 and the other is machine id 2. I forgot to do the advanced options setup on install on the first, is it okay to copy the config file to the first from the second as long as I change the machine ID right?

Yep, just make sure you are using seperate folders for each instance as well. It's easy to tell if you get it right because both of your 'logical' cpus in the task manager will be at 100% load.

Welcome aboard!!!!

XJ is right.

You will have to have a folder for each instance of F@H. For Intel rigs w/ atleast 1 gb of ram, I would configure the consoles with the -advmethods -local flags for QMDs as well as selecting WU's over 5mb.

Yep, I have the console up and running. For some reason I knew that I have to run the consoles in 2 folders maybe from SETI classic. I did the advanced config and set it to accept wu greater than 5MB. Although I don't have the other to flags, what do they do?
A good days drive there. Some people just don't grasp how big Texas really is.

If you have intel ht cpu's or Xeons w/ atleast 1 gig of ram, just add the flags -advmethods -local. That and choosing WUs over 5mb will get you QMDs 450pts ea. They fold alot faster that 600pt gromacs.

I have the following on my Xeon rig: 2 Xeon Noconas w/ 2gb of ram.

2 QMDs
2 PMDs

The second rig is folding 2 QMDs. It's a 3.0c ht w/2gb of ram.

cheers

You need to create shortcuts on your desktop for each FAH502-Console.exe file (call them FAH1 and FAH2). Then, right click on a console and in the target field add the flags. Do the same thing for the other console.

Here's what the target field looks like in my consoles:

E:\Folding@Home1\FAH502-Console.exe -local -advmethods -forceasm

Welcome to the team h20-ski & netofficer!!

I'd just install them as services and them modify the reg keys. There's a program to modifiy FAH service flags over at the FAH official forum under third party contributions if you don't like messing with the registry.

Thanks XJ. I'll look at it. I have set mine up as a service yet. I only have one of my machines as a dedicated folding rig. The other one had some problems in the past. Thinking about putting a 3rd rig online soon.
