Fourteen people killed here in Canton of Zug, Switzerland

I just came back home from abroad into my Canton of Zug, where I live. Our Canton was struck by a terrible crime, killing 14 people, three members of our Government and 11 members of our parliament.

We are deeply saddened and worried about our community. This Canton, the smallest of the Cantons in Switzerland, with only about 100'000 inhabitants, was so peaceful until now.

The crime took place at only two miles from where my office is and only 5 miles from where we live. Some of the people (ten in total) who have been wounded in this crime we know personally.

What a world we live in. How do we explain to our children?

I feel your pain. I used to work at the WTC and know of a guy who is no longer with us. Our kids learn from our example. Set good values and live them and your kids will be fine even though it is sometimes a jungle out there. My kids friends were in a replica of the Half Moon (Hudson's ship) just adjacent to the WTC when it was attacked. The kids are fine now but they will never see the world in the same way after that experience.

Unhappy I was very shocked when I saw the news.

If this can happen in peacefull Switzerland, then no one is safe, nowhere, anymore.

When I heard about that I immidiately remembered you're from there, and wondered if you were affected. It's a shame all this violence...it plain sucks. Just glad you're physically OK, but with that few inhabitants and that many killed/injured it sure is hard not to know (of) anyone involved.

Hey...post no. 500...I officially have no life whatsoever...

Dutch, I feel sad for you too. This world we created is not safe any longer. Who in the world could do that evil things? Btw, I am glad that you are OK. Oh...Michael Jackson should sing again: We Are the World..........

Yeah, I thought about you too Dutch when I saw the news. It is a troublesome world we live in. I'm not sure why soo many people these days find it soooo great to raise children.... It's hard to teach them about the fun things in life when so many bad things are happening all around us. It's only a matter of time before they will see it themselves...

I'm glad you weren't affected directly but I feel a lot of sympathy for the people that were.

Take care!
