CUSL2 and A7M266-D still running!

... But they're soon to be retired.

Re: How many ASUS boards are still around ( desktops )

I am still running a P2b-f also the infamous P4S8x both are running fine the P2b is a system that stays on 24x7. I bought it used from a used dealer when it was hot board back in the good old PII PIII days. I have run a PII Cel 333 then "upgraded" to a PIII 550 512cache as well as added another 128mb of ram it is fully at 384mb running 98SE it's every bit as fast as some newer system.

Re: How many ASUS boards are still around ( desktops )

My last Asus board was the popular P4C800-E with the 3.2 Prescott. After I witnessed it fry and explode I shifted "temporarily" to a biostar. Been stuck there ever since. My health has kind a taken away the "gusto" of computers. But I do intend to go back to an up to date Asus board.

Off topic a little bit here- I have not had any issues with the prescott on the Biostar board - even with less fans installed. Temps run at 36 to 42 C.

I believe that before the end of year I will be cruising on what ever is the latest for Asus. I still have all my other older Asus PC's stored away.

Re: How many ASUS boards are still around ( desktops )

P5E has been rock solid with mild OC on CPU and memory since I bought and built this system, also A8N32 Deluxe still running daily...might be a P4P800 in my "tech closet" somewhere if I dug a little ....all good boards. Always seem to return to Asus after messing about with other brands.

Re: How many ASUS boards are still around ( desktops )

There is two ways to kill an P4C800-E with an 3.2 Prescott .

1) Clock it above 3.6G

2) shortcut the on-board ( PCB ) USB Ports ( they communicate directly with the i875) .
The rear side main USB ports had some protection , and they are safer to use.

One bad USB stick , had killed my board ones , thanks God i had some warranty time left , and it got replaced .
At that time I got the P4P800-E , new and fresh ( old stock) ,
having it as safe guard , so to keep going with all the current PC parts that this setup has .
HD 3850
4X512 OCZ Platinum
Terratec TV 600
X-Fi Music
And the most important , extreme stability .
By having connected my SE mobile phone ,HP rx5915 GPS PDA ,USB BT stick , and all are running peacefully .
On local LAN with two desktops , plus an ACER laptop TM2414 WLMi ( based on totally INTEL subsystem ) Hacked and Oced as usual ( Pentium mobile CPU 1.6 ,
running at higher bus, at 2128 Mhz & 800Mhz at low CPU speed,
plus new 160GB hard drive WD blue .

Its equally fast at CPU cycles with the P4C800-E 3.4G , or in some cases a bit faster .

ASUS had make one CPU adapter for the P4C800-E , for adding Pentium mobile CPU , never had the chance to get one ..
The Pentium mobile CPU offer better gaming in some cases , but they are slow in other tasks.

Re: How many ASUS boards are still around ( desktops )

My TUSL2-C is retired, but still works if I turn it on. Will probably scrap it soon. My parents' CUSL2 was retired a year ago.

I run a Gigabyte mobo in my main rig and a MacBook Pro these days. I'd probably go Gigabyte if I was doing some building, I really like how well it's worked, and I feel their range of products is much easier to figure out and seems more balanced. Also, the Asus webpage is the company name minus a U.

Well I would say the same but for other brands , like 3Com , Linksys , Creative, and even more .

Some brands looks that their economic cut downs , had an direct impact to us.

Well we are here to make new choices , as they do .

Re: How many ASUS boards are still around ( desktops )

I still have the P4PE that I was building when I first joined AsusBoards. It hasn't been turned on in a few years...but it's still sitting there.

I also have an A8N-SLI Deluxe that's the heart of my HTPC.

You had to thanks ASUS , because it had use high quality capacitors .

By adding good quality air cooling on my box , I got amazing low noise levels on idle , and amazing temps on load .

Took me long time to find the right components , but now I have a totally cool box .

I have an original CUBX ASUS socket 370 still running at a friend's house, lol. 1GHz PIII, 1GB RAM, 133MHz FSB. That board has a lot of hours on it.
