I'm also reading Deitel Java How to Program book - currently on page 455. Less than 1,000 pages to complete now!

No problem. Just let me know when you are done reading the 'book' and I will then take you out of the penalty box.

Not a Republican (or Democrat) count, but I do have a theory as to why MM writes and makes the books and movies he does. It's related to the amount of attention he would get if he were not so obnoxious and also to the size of his p*ter....but hey, I'll let him tell you himself!...

No worries pointreyes... and here's me, a definite voter to the conservative right reading a book like that
Thought I'd take a look at the dark side hehe!

Moby Dick by Herman Melville and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by james Joyce (a precursor for Ulysses).

As far as Ayn Rand goes, I like Fountainhead (loved it when I was younger) and Atlus Shrugged, but as far as objectivism goes, while at first I praised her for her concise, objective views, when I realized that it spread to all aspects of life and that she discredited metaphysics and spirituality, I realized she's just a quack who lost her faith in God (This does not have to be the Judeo-Christian God. God of any form; a rose by any other name still smells as sweet) Too bad for her.

Moby Dick was good, but not near as good (and a lot longer) than Sea Wolf by Jack London. I liked Sea Wolf much better.

And I'm right with you on your Ayn Rand description....I think her opinions came from her rough early years in Russia.

You know, I was going to say that I'm almost sure that it's because of some trauma faced early on in her life, but I didn't want to assume. Looks like I was right. Always go with your instinct.

Thanks for the jack London suggestion. Moby Dick is turning out to be a littel overated. I want him to shut up and just talk about the damn whale. Not that I mind existential discussions, but he's not very good at it. I just finished Brother's Karamazov, and it blows Moby Dick out of the water.
