Yu-Gi-Oh.

A theatre filled with 7-10 year old boys. I don't think I saw a girl.

My boys are 3, 6, and 7. They loved it. Don't expect anything for the grown-ups.

Last night I finally saw The Seven Samurai.

It really is the towering masterpiece it's been reputed to be - #5 on the IMDB with a rating of 8.9...

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this film? It's easy to see how it inspires film-making to this day (and modern directors would do well from watching this film!)

Makes me want to grab a katana and join in.

I guess my only complaint was that it's very long - 3 hours 20 minutes, and the only reason I noticed was that I thought I had allowed myself enough time by starting it at 11:30 PM. Wasn't done 'till nearly 3AM.

AVP, much better then I thought it was going to be. I will be picking that up on DVD when it comes out. Story line wasn't that bad, a few holes in it, but still a fun popcorn movie. Looking forward to the second one.

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

Well, I finally got to see I, Robot.

Want to see robots in a different way? See how the logic of a program can go haywire but to it - it's logical (us programmers experience that all the time ). I liked this movie because it did the same thing that great authors like Asimov and Clarke are capable of doing. Take a simple thing and turn it into something complex that is driven by mystery, suspense, subtle humor, and a real plot.

Dawn of the Dead.

Well, I guess I knew what I was in for...

I've seen the 1978 original as well, I'm not sure I liked it better, but I think so.

Yes, I loved that movie (saw it a few years ago). My only complaint was that sometimes the background was white or very light while subtitles were in white and you couldn't read the subtitles because the blended into the background.

The Seven Samurai was very good. Anyone who liked it would also like Sanjuro and Yojimbo. Both were directed by Akira Kurosawa and star Toshiro Mifune, just like The Seven Samurai.

I saw this on DVD and the subtitles were generated by the player. They had a little fuzzy black outline like most superimposed graphics and were generally easy to read.

At a few spots long passages went by too quickly. And you can't pause to read them either, since pausing stops the subtitle display.

Another thing I liked about it - many translated films are still a little incomprehensible, perhaps due to cultural differences. Sometimes a character will do something bizarre without explanation, or the characters will fixate on what seems a small detail. This makes the film, well, "foreign", even though you can understand the dialogue. But not so with this film. It was very easy to understand what was going on and the characters seemed very easy to understand.

if you're talking about the original 1973 version then yes that deserves a thumbs up!!---even though that movie was a bit too long and was only really good during the last 45 minutes or so when the actual exorcism began
