Saw

Be Witched ( pretty good, not great but i laughed )
War of the worlds ( i liked it, it was lacking something but it was fun )
FF4 ( i really liked it, ya it was a bit rushed but they had a lot to fill non ff4 fans in on )

On FF4, i'm just a comic junky so any movies that are made into comics i love... my only gripe on a big change to the storyline was Doctor Doom... they just messed with it too much. Unless i'm mistaken he didn't have any powers just equipment. Oh well, it was still good.

The Bad News Bears

Billy Bob (Bajo) Thornton was great, as usual....but he's about the only thing that was great. All the kids on the team were horrible actors....in the beginning it was obvious that all the mistakes were on purpose. They were just atrocious.

Also, in the 1970s, the idea of a bunch of mouthy bad kids was "edgy"...now its par for the course....so that part of the movie (which was a major part of the story) was practically meaningless.

Also...they fumbled the ending horribly too.

Overall.....the movie sucked. Billy Bob was good....but not good enough to save it.

The Island

Can you turn you brain's mode from "think" to "action"? Then (and only then) will you thoroughly enjoy the movie.

That's my whimsical way of saying the movie was horribly far fetched and as believable as a muppets movie. However.....it is a fun thrill ride. I guess I can't be fairer than that.

Wasnt enough of that unfortunately because the rest of the movie was pretty lame. I mean what was that with the injured father thing? Why are separated fathers always portrayed like that? kinda stoopid and immature? Dont some marriages end because the wife is immature? There wasnt much build up in suspense either at the beginning, like in the original with "uncanny the way its unscrewin like that!" or the scientists desperately trying to find a weakness to exploit, or the build up to the dropping of the nuke. I mean a nuke is the biggest bomb we got and they didnt use it in this movie! And the ending was pretty confused; the punch line is supposed to be about the "god in his wisdom" and the "tiniest creatures of the earth", but it got mixed up with that stoopid injured father/rebellious son sub-plot nonsense

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
*only read this post if you have already seen this movie or do not care about major spoilers

I thought the aliens force field was pretty cool...it would repel anything/everything our technology could throw at it...the scene at the end when the military realizes that the alien force fields are no longer working was pretty smart---they saw that pigeons were able to land on the alien tripods while previosly nothing could get close to the tripods, this meant that there defenses were down...they didn't use a nuke because the aliens were invading large cities/towns with millions of humans there...if they dropped a nuke they might have killed the aliens but they definitely would have killed millions of innocent humans as well

I thought that the ending was pretty clever...the aliens were killed by human bacteria...when the aliens killed humans they would ingest their blood---which meant that they would also be ingesting all our disease and sickness as well...in the end they did not anticipate this so it was their downfall

It was done much better in the original movie, IMO... on balance I think the plot was handled much better in the original movie too! (That stupid sub-plot with the injured father/rebellious son didnt help it.) Actually I think the machines looked cooler in the original movie too. These new machines reminded me more of the matrix sentinels.
This movie relies too much on current Hollywood methods, too much of a formula movie. Probably the fact that its based on a top proven story saves it, as well as those great end of world action sequences.

Watched one last night on DVD (well....really movie link on computer).

Amy's O

It definitely turned out to be a chick flick, unfortunately, but did have on redeeming quality.

It was about a lady who wrote a self help book for women about how they don't really need men and what pigs men are, etc..... She was a bit of a femmenazi type, but through the promotion of the book she does an interview for a radio shock jock (howard stern type) and ends up falling for him. Then she becomes the epiotme of everything she writes against and becomes your typical blushy lovey dovey annoying chick in love. That was poetic justice.....at least from a guy's point of view.

Charlie and the chocolate factroy- Better than the origional till the tour starts, then the origional movie was better. Couldn't even understand what the umpa-lumpa's were singing most of the time. Terrible sound editing. Didn't like the end with the elevator flying all over the place. Need to read the book again to see how it is supposed to end.

Dukes of Hazzard-Great movie. Set in modern times. Just like the old TV show. Gripes-Narrator isn't waylon jennings but tries to be. Don't bother with that. Daisy is absolutely the worst actress I have ever seen. I worked security at her concert last summer and thought she couldn't sing at all...she acts worse. Other actors were fine. Boss Hog seems devious as usual, but Burt Reynolds makes him seem like he could get away with his plans when the TV show always gave you the idea his hair brained plans would likely never work. Still, all and all a fun movie to see.

Million Dollar Baby- great movie. I saw the results of the last fight coming from miles away though. Can someone please tell me what the falling out was with clint and his daughter in the movie.

Maria Full of Grace - great movie and worth renting. Young actress should have spanked Hillary Swank in the Oscars. Not a chick flick and you need to see it. It is in spanish for most of the movie, so be ready to read subtitles.

I picked up Sin City(Hartigan and Nancy on the cover) and Kung Fu Hustle on DVD this last week. Now to try and convince my wife she needs to watch both with me.

I saw this one with my wife AND HER FATHER.
Was VERY embarrising
Masturbation, blowjobs and many more topics brought up.
Definately NOT a family movie. hah
Otherwise if you just see it only or you spouse, it's kinda fun.
