| Re: What movie did you just see? I have just watched a documentary called "MAN ON WIRE" which is about the wirewalker Philippe Petit and his high-wire walk between the twin towers in 1974. Link This video is absolutely breathtaking... or more precisely this story is breathtaking. The man displays unbounded passion for his vision and the documentary describes how he goes about achieving the vision, overcoming all the obstacles. Philippe Petit The documentary is set out like a heist film showing the daring planning, as well as the astounding execution of the event on the day. What he did was illegal and insane by any normal measure. But it was also magnificent. This man is living life to the full. The way he describes it in one of the interviews is that the challenge for him every day is in finding ways to enjoy life to the max, its not about thrill seeking but seems to be about living. Truly an inspiring individual and an incredible and breathtaking achievement. When you see him performing the ... dance... on the wire it is both unbelievable and breathtaking, never would I believe anyone could do this unless I saw it myself (on the video anyhow). We go back to before the twin towers existed which is when he first began thinking about doing this ... we see some footage of the towers being built... and its an amazing contrast to 911 images which I usually think about whenever the subject of the twin towers comes up... now I think that whenever someone mentions the twin towers I am going to think about this amazing event rather than about 911. I have absolutely no idea why he didnt fall to his death doing this. Or why in all the other countless walks that he has done he hasnt fallen. It seems an impossible thing for any man to do, but he has done it. Awesome.

| Re: What movie did you just see? Speaking of bad movies, I just saw Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen... and I havent got a lot to say about it, unfortunately. Basically the director spams us with special effects and must hope we wont notice anything else.

| just saw Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen in IMAX yes the story was kinda stupid and the movie was kinda long...but...who cares!!...the movie is what it is...it's not an art film and won't win best picture at the Oscars...it's a balls to the wall action flick and for that I enjoyed it...plus we not only got one smokin hot girl--Megan Fox but the other girl playing the Decepticon was also smokin...the action was even more crazy then the 1st movie therein lies one of my major issues with the movie...the robot fighting was even harder to follow in this movie then the last...everything was happening so fast with quick cuts in and out that it was hard to tell exactly what the hell was going on...I thought Michael Bay was gonna fix this issue from the last movie...if anything it is worse this time around...all I could make out was a robot's hand here, a leg there...couldn't tell who was who and what the heck was going on at times...I mean is it that hard to either A) slow down the fighting or B) shoot wider shots but the fighting looks amazing even when I couldn't tell what exactly was happening...Devastator and Starscream were bad ***...definitely see it in IMAX if you get the chance...just like The Dark Knight there were a few select scenes shot specifically with IMAX cameras (the forest fight and the pyramid fight) and both looked stunning in IMAX...I also hear the IMAX cut has extended fight scenes and runs a bit longer then the regular version

| Re: What movie did you just see? Sry if these have been discussed earlier, but I just saw a couple of "eastern eye" movies (asian) and they were both fantastic. First, "The Host". A movie about a big mutant monster, kinda part squid, part killer shark living in Seouls Han river. Sounds like one of those bad 1950's Japanese monster movies right? Well, no its firstly a work of art - from the very first scene, first frame, this movie looks really slick. In fact the first scene (in the lab) looked stunning with a kind of noir tone but at the same time with a fresh and sharp look. The acting is good to excellent, with a mix of humour and terror in the dialog. Both done extremely well. At times it borders on hammy, but never quite falls into that trap. The story also grabbed me and kept the interest up all the way until the last frame. Some scenes are so good, I nearly fell of my chair! Such as very early on when a student is sitting on some grass listening to her iPod, blissfully unaware of whats happening behind her, then WHAM! She's fish food... it was brilliant. Scenes with children were also nerve wracking and shocking, (especially given that we dont usually see children being eaten alive in Hollywood movies...) But dont let me misrepresent this movie; the acting, plot and story are excellent, disbelief is well suspended and the sense of terror very pervasive. The second movie is "Brotherhood of War". This is an anti-war movie with a good story about two brothers who find themselves drafted into the Korean war against their will, as so many did at that time. This movie has easily the best and most graphic depiction of battle scenes that I have ever seen, easily beating any movie thats come out of Hollywood in the past couple of decades. To give you an idea, the statistics say there were 15,000 bullets expended, 3000 extras, and 500 stunt experts and I can well believe it. The violence is extreme but it never becomes "sick" as it is always consistent with the plot and the Korean war setting. Its just graphic, violent and visceral... real I would call it. The relationship between the two brothers is very well portrayed, believable and there are moments of great joy and great sorrow as the events unfold. The end runs the risk of melodrama, but fortunately manages to pull it all off gracefully IMO. Both fantastic movies that I was fortunate to have accidentally picked up.

| Re: What movie did you just see? Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen: The effects were awesome, but got in the way of the story. Micheal Bay needs to return to the basics and knock off the stupid humor. Oh, and if I ever see John Turturro in a thong again I'll run out of the theater and throw up!
