Blank explorer pane

After getting MS updates for ME, the explorer pane is blank when using the folder option in IE, windows explorer, and my computer. I can view search, favorites, etc., but cannot view whats on the desk top. If I haven't confused anyone, can someone tell me how to cure this? It was fine before the update. There was no fix for this on MS site. THanks for any assistance....

Try this go to Start/Settings/Control Panel and click on Folder Options. Second tab - View. Click on Show Hidden Files and Folders and unclick Hide Protected System Files and Folders, then click on apply. See it that works for you.

Blank explorer pane

Thanks PCBruiser for coming back so fast. Unfortunatelly, I've tried that. When I go to view, explorer bar, on any of the 3 proggys I can see search, favorites, and history, but like I said folders brings up a blank panel and I can find nothing any where to see what to do. Everything refers to something being in the folders pane when trying to trouble shoot. It's not that important but, it's real handy when trying to work with files. Thanks for reply and I'll keep trying and let all know when I fix it. I'm assuming some one else has had this problem. Bound for me to be the first with a brain buster...

blank pane

GUESS WHAT! I found out the IE6 Microsoft had on thier site apparently had a defect in it and they had a new version of IE6 because of a blank pane. I downloaded the new file and all seems to be working fine. Thanks for allowing me to vent frustrations. Sparky3542
