| Dial Up Server Password I'm Installing A DVRS for a local small business(bar). It is running win98SE, the owner used it in a previous business about 3-4 yrs ago and since it's been sitting in his garage. Problem is he forgot the dial up server access password he had on it. I tried removing and reinstalling DUN and Dial Up Server but it seems to retain the old password and I can't seem to find a utility or walkthrough on editing the registry to get or reset this password any help appreciated much Thanks Jon ![]() Last edited by anytime74 : 01-21-2004 at 08:08 AM. |

| Generally Win98SE stores passwords as .pwl files. I probably would try deleting all .pwl files on the machine and see if you can then enter a new password. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OTHER NECESSARY PASSWORDS BEFORE YOU DELETE THE .PWL FILES. Go to start->find->files & folders, type *.pwl, make sure it's set to search the entire computer and press OK. Delete all .pwl files that are found. See if you can now set a new password. If that doesn't help, maybe you can find something HERE or by a net search for password recovery tools. |
