Welcome to ABX Boots.

What software did you get with the camera? What cables do you connect up with? Do you have webcam software? What spec is your PC? Which version of 98?

A lot more info is needed if we are to help!

I also have a similar Centrios camera. Thankfully I got it for free.

From its poor image quality to software problems to insensitivity to light, it's been nonstop trouble.

Here's a forum search with all the problems these cameras have.

I had an identical problem to what you're having here.

Essentially, I've discovered the following:

- for Windows 98, you need to load the driver that came on the CD. I think the camera should then be recognized by the OS in Windows Explorer. I can't remember if you have to go through the camera's craptacular software to browse photos, but looking at my old thread, it looks like you browse photos through Windows Explorer.

- to get it to work as a webcam, you have to open the camera video software, turn the camera on, then press and hold the shutter AT THE SAME TIME as you plug in the USB cable. Also be aware that the camera needs a huge amount of light to function. You may not see anything through the video window until you point it straight at a light.

Is the camera still under warranty? My advice to you is to return it, spend just a bit more money and get a real camera by Canon, Fuji or Kodak.
