How To Back Up Outlook Express When PC Won't Boot???

I have a PC from a friend with 98 on it that won't boot due to damage caused by many viruses. All he wants me to do is to recover his emails so he can format. I have installed the drive on my PC as a slave and cleaned all the viruses. I now can access the files on the drive but I can't find out how to back up his email manually. Perhaps I'm using the wrong search terms but all I can find is how to back up the email from within Outlook. Is there a way to back up his email without running Outlook Express? I was also wondering if I installed 98 on top of it self if I would lose the email or not. Can't remember because it has been a while since I did this. Thanks.

Look for \\application data\identities\funny characters\microsoft\outlook express.

Get all of the files in the outlook express folder. You will import messages from this folder after reinstalling windows.
