HowTo: Download IE6sp1 to HD

for later installation (or burning to CD)

download the ie6setup.exe from MS to a new dir called C:\ie6sp1

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...arch&ordinal=1

in the run command box type in
"C:\ie6sp1\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E" ...with quotes

choose your OS(es), download the files to your C:\ie6sp1 dir

to run the local files just click the ie6setup.exe

Just last week a person was asking about how to do this in Windows XP. Due to the superb documentation of how to do this, I have made this thread a 'sticky' for future reference. Good job, ThugsRook.

Is this for a complete install or just the service pack?

Hi! This may be just what I needed. A friend has a WinME machine w/dialup. She needs IE 6. Can I follow these instructions so she can just pop the cd in and install IE 6 directly from the cd? I'm not clear if the instructions are just for the service pack one or a full install.

Thanks,
Randy

this is the IE6 SP1 update.

download it, burn it to cd, and install it on any Windows comp you want.

saves alot of time for all those 56k'ers out there, and those that dont have Inet connections.
