| ...anyone else find it alters the "pointer" to files on the Win98 CD? I suspect it alters something in the registry. When I try to install anything that requires files from the Win98 CD, it can't find them and I have to enter the path in manually. This usually isn't too bad since most of the required files are in the .CABs in the "win98" directory on the CD. However, I also had trouble with various install programs locating files on their own CDs as well (like drivers for the old Radeon I'm using in the rig). I just reformatted and reinstalled. This time, 98lite will be going on LAST - or maybe even not at all! I don't want to go through that again! Anyone else have similar problems?

| I've used 98lite succesfully many times... it's never redirected the installation folder though (?) may have been a quirky thing when you installed it this once... does this happen all the time for you? (Although it is a very cool program for creating ramdisk-only installations!!!)

Even after I uninstalled 98lite it was the same thing. I noticed 98lite left all the setup files in the 98lite folder - I assume it left the pointer in the registry too. I'm thinking it was good intentions on the programmer's part to point requests for 98 setup files to the 98lite directory, but it just didn't work properly for me.

| Hmm... I suppose your best bet is to repoint the registry then What is your use of 98lite?

However, my new hardware is sufficiently fast that this isn't a must anymore. But it would be nice.

| REGEDIT path.... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup check the source path first~ check the rest of the entries in that folder~ replace all "old source paths" with your new one. HTH

| Hey thanks! I've already set up the system and it's working fine. But now I'll install 98lite and give this a shot. I used IE-OFF from Annoyances.org. It worked but it wiped out my Quick Launch toolbar. |

| i just use TweakUI. does the same thing but you lose the quickbar. youre better off w/o QB tho cause it eats up GDI resources. run "resource meter" for a couple of days to see what im talking bout there.

| disconnecting IE from the desktop is a great thing that way if IE crashes, windows wont. basicaly its "running IE in a seperate process". if you wanted to, you could even run the desktop in a seperate process too. there is an option in IE to open each new window in a seperate process as well. hehe~
