| IE 6+Updates = No pics I'm servicing a puter with WIN98 and all of the latest updates. After updating WIN98 IE6 most websites will not show pictures. I have set in Internet Options/Advanced to "Show Pictures". The problem is that on individual web pages that won't show the pictures, I look at the View/Encoding/ Auto Select options. They are set properly, however, it keeps selecting the option for Western European (ISO) which does not work. If I manually select Western Euro (Windows) or Unicode (UTF-8) the pix show up. But, after I close the page or reboot it reverts to the wrong setting for WE(ISO). Any ideas on why this setting will not stick or, why the Western Euro (ISO) is not working? Mike.

| I'd try an experiment first. De-select encoding/auto select & reboot. See if it stays unselected. If so, select whatever encoding you want and see how you get on. Then try another. See if your selections stick after closing IE and restarts. After this, re-select auto and go to a few differently encoded pages, checking the source to see if the correct encoding is being selected. If this doesn't work, I have no ideas except to use the IE repair tool found under tools from System Information. PS. perhaps running SFC might shed some light. Hope you get it fixed - Cheers, Dave.

| I tried everything I could think of. What finally solved it was to remove IE6 SP-1+Tools. It "sorta" works now. According to Microsoft, if their advice did not work, it prolly indicates a hosed registry. So, clean install of 98 here I come. Thanks for the help. Mike.
