| Open Power Options in Control Panel. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Standby or Hibernate in the When I press the power button on my computer list. This option may not be available if your hardware configuration doesn't support it. You can also click Standby or Hibernate in the When I close the lid of my portable computer list (if you are using a portable computer), or in the When I press the sleep button on my computer list (if your computer has a sleep button). Hope this is what you were looking for...

| Here's a little utility that will do what you want - just unzip it to a new folder in c:\program files\closewind say and send a shortcut to your desktop. It will add an icon to the desktop that when you click on it will bring up the windows close screen and you click on standby. Two clicks to standby. |

| PC thanks for tip but maybe i have to explain better. I have a compaq multimedia keyboard with assignable keys so i need the command for "standby". I'll create a shortcut and assign a multimedia key to that shortcut. One key press and standby. I found the "shutdown" command but cannot find the standby command. |

| this may not be what youre looking for but depending on where your box is in proximity to where you sit while using it, you can set up standby mode to activate by pressing the power button on your box....

| Create a new shortcut, and paste this into Target line, this command works with XP, not sure about ME though. %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

| www.fixup.net/tips/suspend/suspend.htm In my searches, both yahoo and google, i was searching standby instead of suspend. Anyways the above address has a download with the exe files. It's solved and thanks for all your help. %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState only works with XP www.leinensoft.net/software/command.htm (power management commands) Using this now since it is alot better.
