Well at my work place they HAD (keyword: had) it so that in the autoexec.bat it would deltree the Temporary Internet Files... that took a good 10 minutes to do with my internet usage... so let's just say I took care of that autoexec.bat problem.

Cool Win 95

I used Win 95 up till late fall of 99.
No real problems with it.
I only upgraded because of seeming memory problems that later turned out to be a program (Trojan/worm) that McAfee never found.
As far as booting up, it was as fast, if not faster than win 98.
Now you wanna talk old and slow, think about windows 3.1.
Yes, there are some people still running that system.
If you have an old system with very limited drive space, then you may be stuck with win 3.1.
I much prefer Win NT, but it's impossible to install on my drives with fat 32.
It was very very stable. never crashed on me like 95 would do at times.
Main drawback with 95 is almost no USB support, and having far fewer drivers built in.
I kinda miss it though...
May just set up a win 95/NT drive, if I can figure out a practiacl multi boot setup...

I just felt like bumping this.

Relevant to the conversation, though, I think my parents are looking forward to my old PII 300 with win 95 over the current 486DX2 66 with Win 3.1 that they have now......

Thanks Smurfer!

You know, I almost won a free videocard last year from some hardware site contest. One of those "let us know how bad you need it thing".

I don't know if it was the whopping three or four-hundred point score in 3dmark that impressed them or not. I can't remember what version that was....whatever the new one out at that time was it wouldn't even run on my system and aborted. Most tests were 1-3 frames per second. This was a TNT card with 16 MB of RAM....an upgrade to the original that had been int he machine which was 8 MB.

In the end, I got third place, which wasn't even a t-shirt. I don't know what the poor b****** who won turned in, but mine was my only system.

Surprisingly, it did run Unreal Tournament ok.....although I died a lot.......

We'll have this conversastion again in a few years when I'm still running this one only with a newer AIW in the AGP slot and a 3.2 or 3.4 Ghz Northwood......

P.S. In fact, I just bookmarked this page. I guarantee it.
