| Hi Guys I have a brother who is a stroke victim and I am trying to set up his PC (Old Pentium 100 Win98 first edition) to be as simple as possible. The trouble is when he finishes with it he just switches it OFF with out shutting down properly, it has become corrupt and I have reinstalled windows. He just uses word and practices typing. I will have to school him up on the shutdown procedure. My question is when you click start in order to shut down a handicapped person may then click "Log Off" instead of "Shut down" which will only confuse him. Does any one know a way to remove the Log Off option so that I can keep it simple. Thanks in advance ![]()

| Sandman you can create a shortcut on the desktop in win 98, One click and it shuts down, I will go dig it out for you mate Sandman create a new shortcut on the desktop give it a name (Turn Off or Shutdown or something else) then right click it and select properties and in the target box put this in C:\Windows\Rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows Hope this helps and best wishes for a speedy recovery (takes time matey)

| Sorry sandman i forgot to answer your original question, yes you can remove the log off option and a lot of the other rubbish on the start menu with a little proggie called Tweakui (ui being user interface) it's supplied by microsoft for free, not sure if they still have it on their site but if you cant find it drop me a line and i will put it up on my site for you to download. Cheers kipper ![]()

| Thanks Kipper I made a shut down Icon and it works great I might leave it at that. I will have to school him up on closing any open windows and then click the shut down icon. That tweakui rings a bell I might have it on one of my computer mag CD's I havn't used it though. As a matter of interest does the shut down procedure work with WinXP Pro. & Home or is it a different procedure. ![]()
