win98se load problem

I recently upgraded to a CUSL2C and took my old stuff and am upgrading another computer with it. I pulled a working hard drive from that computer and added it to my old shell. It is:

Azza PT5VMD motherboard
Athlon K6-2 450 mhz cpu
seagate 10 gig hd

I put the hd in, and it read it fine, but I opted for a clean install as this has not been done in probably 3 or 4 years if at all, and removed the partitions on the drive. I tried to load win98se and after I try to run setup.exe, it skips through the scandisk quickly and scans the registry of my system. At this point, it will say "windows 98 needs 7340023 bytes available" and it doesn't even finish that line sometimes. I have reformatted, checked bios settings and everything I can think of. It's done this 10 times or so. The mobo/cpu worked fine, as did the hd, and the win98 disk. But put them all together, and it locks up when trying to load the disk.

Try loading bios setup defaults (if you can get into the bios) and clearing the CMOS.
Then boot the system from a Win98 boot disk with CD-ROM support. Should get you to an A:\ prompt. Run FDISK, then FORMAT, then change to the Win98 CD and run SETUP.

Good luck!

Thanks! That worked. I think that this board should be compiled into a help book. I've received more help from this place. Well, I get a lot from cnet.com and from a friend who is in tech support too. I wish I had kept notes on how to fix every problem that I've had. Especially the ones where I search all over for the answer and have a hard time finding it.
