Using Win98se..
Only restarts even when you "shut down" All the power management settings look fine... probably OS related.. Any ideas? Haven't had much time to fool with it..

Resolve all Irq shares and if you have a SB Live!, you have got some work to do. Look in sound section for those fixes...

My PC will Shut Down fine but not restart. Also Sometimes when it sleeps the monitor comes on and the hard drives spin up but the monitor remains black. I have to reset the box when this happens.

Any Ideas?

As far as IRQ sharing I have over 25devices listed as using an IRQ, most of them are on 10 and 11 there are 14 devices on these two IRQs. Everything works fine but the restart and sleeping turning into coma.

If you have that many devices you really need to create mutilple hardware profiles and boot up with the one you need or intend to use. This will free up those Irqs....

My computer used to do the same thing. Microsoft update has a fix for this. I downloaded it, ran the update, no problem since. It definately was OS related!

Win 98 Shutdown problems

Go to your msconfig and in "Advanced" unclick your "fast shutdown" feature.

Thumbs down still no luck

I'm using win98se so no "fast shutdown" like there was in the 1st ed. The IRQ shares don't seem to be a problem, not really sure what else to try besides start yanking cards out... not really worried about it that much since my new cpu and s.c. will be arriving shortly..
so I'll be reinstalling the OS anyhow... It's just one of those things that bug you... I am sure you all can feel me here..
