windows 95 setup

i have a problem with installing windows 95 on a old laptop with just a floppy drive. everything goes fine till the screen where u get to choose the installation type (typical, custom, portable,...). then after choosing (no matter wich installation type) i get a message "CANNOT READ DISK" SETUP CANNOT READ THE DISK MAKE SURE IT'S INSERTED or something similar although the disk is inserted. i tried both floppys in DMF(13 disk set) as well standard 1.44 formated (29 disk set) but i still get the same error on the same spot. since i tried two different installation sets i dont think the problem is with damaged disks or data.
any help appreciated.

Maybe the hard drive is bad? Have you tried a diagnostic on the HDD to see if it passed the test?

Two things. There was some software called interserv/interlink you put them on floppies and connect the two systems with a parallel or serial cable and use the interserv system's cd drive to load win95 or to copy the cd files to the laptop and then try a load.

The software should be on the win95 cd or do a google serch to find . These are dos programs that you boot and run from the floppies.

I have used it in the past before usb connections etc.

The other is little more expensive for less $15 you can buy and adapter cable that will connecta 2.5" drive with this cable to a usb port on a system and then allow you to do what ever you need to on the 2.5" drive. I use one in my consulting busines like when systems crash and burn.
