This is the exact content of the message: Hello I am interested in buying the Striker Extreme that you have laced for sell now, and I would want to enquire about the resent condition of the above mentioned, as well as some detail about you. I expect this timely enough. As for the ayment, I would need you to get back in touch with the last asking rice as I will be paying with a c/e/r/t/i/f/i/e/d c/h/e/q/u/e. Lastly, lease forward to me your full comany's (or mailing address, telephone and fax) details as I will subsequently refer reaching you through these facilities. Yours interestingly, Ismail Osman Email me back your consideration at: mx_0003@yahoo.com for confidential purposes. Well from my expereince and just my plain gut, This looks like a CON MAN at work. So if you are selling something please be leary. Whether some old equipment laying around to some of the fastest RAM known to man. Remember it is safer to error on the side of caution even if you may need the cash.

| Good, I hope something will be done to prevent or at least make it more diffulcult for them. BTW it doesnt just have to be Nigerian, there was a lady at my job who got conned for over 2500 from a Canadian scammer offering a secured Credit Card through a Canadian bank. She had to send a percentage for a deposit and never received anything back. Oddlyy enough I saw the exact same thing on Niteline or 20/20 about 10 yrs ago.

| What makes me think Nigerian is the horrible spelling and syntax errors that are usually associated with the 419 breed. Your right though, not necessarily.

| Got the exact same thing today for an item I posted long ago. I usually don't accept payment through "c/e/r/t/i/f/i/e/d c/h/e/q/u/e". |

| They should somehow limit a new user from being able to post in classifieds and pm'ing people. |

| We used to do that, I think... I remember there being a 90-day membership rule and/or some posting requirement (100 posts, I think) specifically intended to give access only to members who didn't just sign up to sell stuff (or scam people).

| I don't think it would have to be that long a wait or that many posts even. Say 30 days and 20 posts I think would weed most of them out. Few of them are patient enough to wait that long and even if they did do the posting, chances are their posts would be so lame they would be obvious anyway. Lots of spammers of course, but that is the first time I have seen an actual thief here.

| I suppose spammers have to get more creative these days, eh? This one appears to have grown a set... At first I was thinking it wasn't a big deal, but now after seeing how many members were contacted, he's gone...

| I don't think "spammer" is an appropriate term for this guy. Thief or con man applies better I think. My brother got snookered for a PS2 not long ago by one of them through Ebay.

| Fortunately (or not), most of us here have been exposed to this sort of thing regularly and recognize it for what it is. How this person thinks he could actually be successful trying this at a site where members are typically more tech savvy is beyond me, it would seem to me he doesn't know his market very well. You right in that this would be a criminal act if successful, but anyone so foolish as to buy into this scheme should really know better. Perhaps we can ask if adjustments be made to the forum software regarding abilities to use the pm feature. Of course that is no vehicle to protect people, it would just slow the offenders down, which may be enough to keep it out of our forums.
