Are you crazy, Emachines and Gateway make the worst computers on the market. People all across the net have reported all sorts of problems with a computer from Emachines, and the trouble didn't quit until said people got rid of the junk from Emachines, and either bought or built a new computer.

It is a mixed review IMO. I have known people that have had an e-machine for 3-4 years with no issues. I also have known people to have them for a week and want to throw then out the window. I think you get what you pay for.

You can get all the harware at Newegg for $249.00 with a 1 year warranty on all parts.
M$ home for $92.00 Thats $349.00
You could prob even look around and find it a little cheeper.
Once you pay for the additional warranty from Emachine for $2-3 hundred, well your now over.
Also, If you build it, you know what you have.
It would be worth the extra $20.00 for the 9 month warranty on parts vs 90 day from E.

Also, E says: Available Expansion Slots Info Not Available.
Mfr. Part Number: T3882 REFURB

329.99 $ Canadian is about 263.00 US ...

I have had issues with VIA chipsets lately so I was looking for an Intel based system.

There seems to be 3 PCI slots with 2 free from what I have been reading.

The good part about this system is the parts aern't bad. If I was to buy that system, I could totally understand dissecting it, and just buying a new motherboard and adding some ram which would cost maybe just over 100 bucks. Also maybe ebay the hard drive and get something faster, but that wouldn't matter that much.

I forgot to mention the Intel 865GV chipset before ...

I questioned this also since it's not listed in the BestBuy specs but after doing some research, I found it has the Intel chipset along with 3 PCI slots (one used by the modem) and two free. Another thing I noticed after ordering, it comes with speakers, mouse and keyboard
