Question ABX Audio Video forum??

Hello folks, I know this site is mainly PC's and PC related topics but I think an AV forum would be a nice addition to this forum. I know there are a few audiophiles here, and not having to go to some of those snooty stuck up AV forums for answers would be nice. Also not having to post it in OT might yield better results for answers. Just a suggestion on my behalf. How do the mods and you other Members feel abut this?? Thought suggestions banter etc appreciated...

You know what my vote is on this!

The fields are slowly merging, what with HTPCs, digital out lines from soundcards and whatnot...

It should still be considered Open Chat as it's rather off-topic, but I'm all for it having its own forum.

Let's see what people think, because we could also put still cameras, vidcams, vid encoding, codec questions, ripping, etc., in that forum as well. There is a fair amount of interest in these subjects, so this could make good sense. Very worth thinking about, Gaspar, so thanks for the suggestion. Opinions, anyone?

Fraoch"s observations about the integration of technologies is quite on point here...I don't find this idea at all at odds with the identity of ABXZone as a computer tech site. In fact, this would be another great source of review and technical articles (esp. w/ members such as Fraoch and FB, just to mention a few of our "A/V philiacs", not to ignore our other, many capable members). I recommend adding the forums

Thread moved to ABX Feedback since there appears to be real interest in this.

Maybe we should expand to more than that......there is a LOT of technical, but "non-computer" related talk going on here.

Maybe we should have a non-computer tech forum and have seperate sections for major items, like an Video Camera forum, Still Camera forum, Portable Audio, Home Theater, Airplanes (for FB ), etc....

So your saying have a Forum with other Sub forums in it. I think that just Audio and Video would be plenty of info. There are so much to talk about just in this field, though I would be open to anything the mods decide to do.

If you divided it between Audio and Video, that would be geat.
There is so much to know about digital video, analog capture, video encoding, etc. Getting a video production system configured and working generates a lot of questions. There are lots of other websites that deal with specifics, perhaps ABX can deal with more of the computer end of it and point the members in the right direction for the other stuff. In my opinion, being able to shoot, edit and produce your own video productions and put them on a DVD is one of the best things you can do with a computer.
Digital photography is pretty straightforward, I think King Termite did a good job with his Digital Camera guide, he's covered most of it. I don't think the majority of people here want to talk about high end digital SLRs and lenses, which is what many photography forums, like this one, deal with.

I was more thinking of strictly HT and such ie recievers speakers cables configurations reviews from members on TV's etc though incorporating anything A/V is a great idea too. Diversify..
