While I guess most folks know that I enjoy playing around with images and would not turn down a larger "playground" , I would defer to even 5% of the active membership dissenting... I would hate to lose even one ABXbud due to dial-up distress and I guess I wonder if 100x100 would not be a little distracting from the posts, as Supdawg noted.

you folks need to see what pixels mean... Look at the image.... the big red line is about 200px wide

also on the image what an avatar of 80x80 looks like and a 100x100 (i think i said i am not for 100x100 and you can see why)

You can already add a 100 x 100 picture in your profile. No need to punish the dialup user any more. They've suffered enough

I don't think everyone will use full 100X100...I just like my Camaro better 99X64.

After seeing the comparative sizes I vote no also. If a larger size is approved I would choose 80x80 over 100x100. Of course I don't have a clue how to make the fancy avatars anyway so maybe I'm just biased.

Hey Guys,

Looking at the site I have a suggestification:

I personally think it'd do all kinds of good for potential creativity (and not cause pages to format any differently than they do now) and perhaps you could select the option of 60x60 or whatever other size it ends up being. Or people could just edit the image to look like the avatars do now.

Any increase is going to hurt modem users, but altogether it's a pretty efficient site (depending on what thread you're looking at, of course) IMO.

I'm happy where we're at, but it'd be neat to shake up the avatars a little.

EDIT: I'm abstaining from the poll because the mods have enough work to do, but if there was a radio button for "120x60, unless somebody objects" I'd vote for that.

I agree that 100x100 would be too much for all kinds of reasons.

If they get any bigger and especially if we allow file size to increase a lot then we'll have bigger and more distracting animated avatars. I'm against this because they draw my eyes away from the content involuntarily. It's more the distractions I worry about than the added use of bandwidth.

Also, I don't want to turn avatars off as they are a key to recognizing posters when reading a thread.

I agree 100x100 is extreme but an increase to 80x80 is not that significant, your avatar is pretty eye catching at 60x60 but none the less the coolest animated avatar

How about this suggestion.

Bump it up to 70 *70. this will help out many. keep the file size the same.
