| It is true that broadband is not uncommon, but dialup is still used by many members. I agree that forcing dialup users to either wait for a page to load or turn off avatars would not be in keeping with the spirit of ABX. I believe some of the recent changes and the earlier change of restricting signature size were made to reduce unnecessary bloat. It would be a shame to replace it with a different kind of bloat that would be a hindrance to selected users (those on dial up). Custom user titles, avatars, and signatures are ways of individualizing ourselves and I like them. The size restrictions in place now are a suitable compromise and I think it would be a mistake to increase them. |

| my avatar isnt clear at the current res, but perfect at 100x100. Couldnt ppl with dial up just disable loading of pictures when they are on the forums??? We could also have it that people with a certain number of rep points get a bigger one, or people here longer or what not

| Another vote for larger. All the avs I'used look much better when they're not squeezed down so small. BTW, Sammy, I think that 20000KB would be roughly 20MB, not 2MB.

| In another post I brought up about larger Ave's but as KT pointed out to me it would effect those on dial up, so I dont want a larger ave at the expense of guys on Dial up my vote is to leave it as it is |

| Probably unpopular, but here is my view.... I have turned off both sigs and avatars. Now, I wish there was a way to customize what I have to see in the block to the left of the post under the poster's name. I can do without little tiny flags and green popularity symbols, among other things. I personally would be happy with just the name of the person who made the post and the time and date it was left. I know that most posters enjoy all those other elements, and I'm fine with that. Any control I have over even furthur reducing the flashy visual clutter and increasing the actual information I personally see on my own screen would be welcome. I find it annoying when two posts of only one line each totally fill my screen. I come here for solid PC information, not flashing lights and waving smilies. I also would point out that anyone who views this forum in guest mode as opposed to signed-in as a member has to see all of those things. I don't mean to be stepping on anyones toes.... this is just my own preference. |

| I frequent other VB forums with 100X100 avatars. I had no problems when I had dialup.

| I think that's just plain too small. I see a lot of things that I think would make sweet avatars, but by the time I get them shrunk down, they look like dookie. I don't remember it being that bad to load avatars when I had 56k, and if it is bad, they should disable avatars. I think moving avatars are more of a concern for dial-up, maybe we need a better file size restriction. I dunno, seems like all of the other forums have bigger avatars, and size does matter. I think 100x100 is perfct, but 80x80 will be a lot better. It's just too hard to make something that looks cool @ 60x60  . |

I considering if it would be possible to have the VIEWER'S option of displaying an avatar at different sizes, but that would require either people having uploaded multiple sizes or the server doing some image scaling whenever a new avatar is uploaded.
