A small, user operated website tends to reflect its owner operator. This does not apply to more passive owners. I am a hardcore technology and neuroscience enthusiast. I am also a family man and generous individual. I want the old ABXzone.com back to its glory days. I did not drag it down to where it is (traffic, membership, registrations, and outdated content)..obviously the accountability for that lies with the prior regime.

Since I took over there seems to be more activity. I will post reports as we proceed...

I am keeping an open mind about this. However, this doesn't seem like a sound business practice. What value does a forum have but it's membership?

I own different forums, they have different value and belief systems. Values are determined by members, but you cannot discern anything about the members or their values from an off-topic forum. OT is where people go to escape.

Keep an open mind and feel free to ask questions- I am trying to answer everything. I am just not cool with pot-shots taken against me and some people I am close to.

In the flurry of recent activity, my prior question may have got lost, I'll ask again - will you condone porn on ABX?

I am unclear as to what your objective is, but since you are involved with strategy on a 9-5 basis, I guess you may know what your doing.

I was talking monetary value not value systems.

I don't post a lot either, but have been around for a while. My take: forums are made up by the people who post, not the owner. Sanjay seems the type to sit back and let it take it's own direction. If you post something NSFW then label it that, anyone who would be offended just doesn't open it. If nobody opens it, pretty soon nobody posts it. I read what interests me, and hang out here because I like tech. There are a lot of knowledgable people here, but there's a lot more out in the world, maybe some of them are in the new forums. When I want an answer, or am interested in a topic, I welcome the most input I can find. If some of it is sarcastic, or slightly off-topic, I really don't care. I think things might get more interesting here, and that's not a bad thing.

No to porn. It is against genmay's rules as well. Whenever a user reports a pornographic avatar I can reset it and the person who bought it loses their money. Where it becomes tricky is on avatars that appear to have nudity in them, but you cannot see anything because of the size or blurring.

There are no porn threads on genmay.

Let me answer this question again based upon the clarification you gave me.

The following are what a forum is valued for by me:

Age of domain name and number of posts indexed on search engines
My personal interest in the subject matter
Number of active members
Traffic and referrer stats

ABX only has value to me because of how long it has been around and because I like technology discussion.

To tell you the truth, the amount I paid (16) could not be made back even if I plastered this place with ads.

With some normal posters and the money I am willing to invest in marketing, the few hundred posters here could be doubled in six months or so...

Thanks for your perspective. Try asking your questions on [M], you will get sarcasm, but you will get relevant answers in a pretty impressive time-frame.
