I guess my take on this is that:

1. ABX has been in a state of decay for awhile now, and I am hoping that will now change. I think noone can deny this.

2. This was/is CJ's baby, and he put a lot of time and effort into this place. I don't think he would sell it to someone who would squander all that and wasn't capable of taking this place to the next level.

3. Sanjay paid quite a bit for this site, and stated his desire to put the time and energy into making it THE tech forum on the internet.

4. We all know that it is the users/members whose contributions will make or break a forum. I think we all love this place for its uniqueness, and some are upset because they think it will become like other forums. I don't think sanjay would be so unwise to allow that to happen.

5. I think we all want the same thing, to see ABX grow to its full potential. Perhaps sanjay has the most to lose if this does not come to pass? I just hope we can all come together and work as a team, support computers and building friendships.

Well. I've been sitting back taking all this in..

I can't help but think I've seen the whole scenario before.

Like many others here, I work for a company that has been taken over by another one (3 times in 4 years for me).

To be truthful it hasn't been a good experience at all.

I'm hoping that this will be different..

I like it here and would hate to see it go away or change in such a manner that people migrate elsewhere.

Having said that, welcome to the site Sanjay and Matty.

to the people that have deleted their "personal" info from their profile:

I'm not getting exactly what personal info is in these profiles...credit card numbers?...social security numbers?...only thing I have in my profile is my avatar, location and some hardware specs...the current owners along with any future owners can do whatever they want with my profile...when setting up my user name, profile etc I never put any really personal info in it which can be used to identify me and nor should anybody else(last name, etc)...when I first started joing internet forums I also created a "phony" Yahoo e-mail address just for this purpose...nobody can do anything with my user information because nobody knows any "real" personal info

only time I put my real personal info is when I'm forced to on sites such as Amazon or banking sites...

so don't worry about what any owner may or may not do with your user name...be diligent enough to not let them have the power to do anything even if they had the ability

LOL I love the drama and 'hostile takeover' scenarios. Anyone in Los Angeles want me to buy them a beer/ovaltine so they can see me at my evil best?

It isn't so much drama as the lives that a lot of us lead... This site has been for the most part a good escape from the "real world" of hostile takeovers, mergers and change....

I think it's natural for people to be wary of change.
I'm sure things will calm down once the dust settles. If nothing else it has given everyone something to talk/gripe about..

Very true this has been the most interesting thread in a while I do hope some of the people that left reconsider though. Until I see penises for avatars and "gay love" threads I'm not going anywhere.

LOL- no. I kinda like this place and I have merged all my users into one big pot. makes it difficult. Also, I am Indian and making a profit is part of my genetic make-up.

If I were making a deal we would start negotiation at $26,000. If this number is good for you...I may consider it.

kONGO's name is actually in the "Currently Online" list...he has actually "unhidden" himself...I congratulate you sanjay for achieving something nobody was able to do in the history of ABX...

I do not know enough about him or you guys to know what that means, but it doesn't sound like an insult- so thanks!

(I edited his name for him so maybe I screwed something up in that process?)

You used to be able to choose whether you could be viewed as being online or not or unreported. I also used that privilege, since although I may be logged in, I might be elsewhere and not likely to respond for quite a while and I did not want to give someone the impression that I was blowing them off. This is probably more of an issue if someone sends a PM, thinks you are online, and expects you to reply soon.

During the updates everyone that was "invisible" was made visible.
