Welcome sanjay and Matty

I'm a bit surprised that CJ sold ABX...knew he was thinking about it for some time but I guess I never really expected it to really happen...CJ did a great job as Admin...good luck in the future CJ!!! (and come back and say some parting words before you leave for good )

as far as the whole merging of forums...I don't see 1 technical/computer forum on that list...all seem to be varying forms of OT discussion which could easily be threads created here at ABX...I also don't know if those forums are heavily populated ones with lots of active members....some of those forums look pretty slow/dead to me...and a lot of those forums have content which CJ himself did not want here at ABX...so for CJ to have screened all potential buyers very carefully and then to have it conflict with his vision seems a bit off to me

Genmay was spun out of hardocp's hardforums.com when the off-topic forums were shut down suddenly in 2002.

As for the other forums, other than genmay which was the original one- they are all in various states of decay...just like abxzone. I also do not appreciate your insinuation about the content on the other forums. Having a sense of humor and openness is actually a greater indicator if intelligence than fear of change. As for CJ's vision- there was no vision memo at the time of sale. There was just an understanding that our existing members are as rooted in the tech culture as any of you.

I would certainly have to agree with you on the content remark - I certainly hope it does not cross-pollinate over to ABX.

Thanks so much for the welcome As I mentioned in another thread I'm very excited to be a part of this community, and I look forward to getting to know you all. No one is coming in here to take over, Sanjay and I just have the resources available to maintain and keep this place alive and kicking. For everyone here in or anywhere around California, I highly recommend you consider coming to our crowdgather party on Friday and Saturday. It's free, there will be food, events, and lots of fun, friendly, tech-savvy people from all over. I'm down from Seattle, WA, there are people coming from Las Vegas, and Sanjay has a bigger list with more places. PM Sanjay if you're interested and he'll put you on the guestlist.

Hey Matty!

Welcome

I logged in at Genmay this evening. After logging in, a message appeared saying that my password was too old and I needed to change it.
Ok.. changed it no problem.
Logged out and tried to login to ABX later, found out it changed my password here as well.

That's some big news, didn't find out about this until today. It's exciting though.

I'm just catching up on all of this.

I must say that I am surprised that all of this has happened without any notification or announcement on the Front Page!

But, that aside, Good Luck to the new owner(s) and Admin team!
