Angry Donation rant!!

When I noticed the burn rate under 25 days this weekend, I clicked on the Paypal logo, and dropped CrazyJohn a donation of $10. I figure I would just skip 2nd day shipping on my next online purchase for the better of my favorite web page. He sent me a nice reply and dropped my jaw at the same time. He has only recieved 16 donations since he set it up!!! There are 5300 registered users(and I mean users in this case) and 3600 active users on this site. I would venture to guess atleast 1000 of these people have paypal. Is it that hard to click the banner, give a couple bucks that you will never miss, and put in your password? If all the active registered members would give $2, the site would have enough funding to last 36 MONTHS!!! That is enough money to make the site live well past the Cusl2 they are trying to fix. How many people have taken advice on building a computer, fixing a software setup problem, or just gathered information to increase their computer knowlege? Computer repairs start at $30-$50 a hour, and you can get it here for a measly few bucks. Pony up people. It won't kill you, but it could kill the site. 16 people?!?!?

I totally agree with you, come on people blow some life into the best board on the web.

Just one suggestion I have to make, unlike you I haven't received a confirmation from CJ that he has received the money. I got all the confirmations from paypal, but I like to know that the money really made it to the right place. I don't need a thank you, because everytime I come here I get rewarded enough.

I've been trying to make a donation but paypal doesn't like my credit card. I closed an old paypal account awhile ago and now they won't let me open a new account with the same credit card. I've been arguing with them for a month but it takes them over a week to reply to my email each time. I almost broke down and allowed them to transfer the money directly from my checking account but I don't really want my checking account floating around cyber space. Is there another way to donate or at least send paypal some money?

Thanks a lot for the support guys .

Most of the questions regarding donation are covered in the FAQ: Donation Details.

I agree.

I have donated twice. I figure the 10 $ I donated is worth every penny for the advice I get here.

Even if all members just donated a $1 it would fund the site for over a year.

Just 16 people... Thats sad.

Well I am glad I am one of them.

I'm with you, guy's.
It really is a cheap investment.

For all who have not donated yet:
Please send some dough? This is the only site that would have a doltz like me. I NEED guidance and supervision. If I don't have Asusboards users to keep me in line, who knows what I might do.

I guess I could steal a user list from the site(if it wasnt so well run) and go to your houses and screw up YOUR systems!
After all, I would be forced to....cause my system wouldnt last a week without Asusboards to fix my screw-ups.

Please-PLease-PLEASE, you dont want ME working on your systems!

Me too!
I don't have a PayPal account, so I sent mine via snailMail. I've been visiting this site since the fall of 2000! I think that's worth a few bucks! Don't you!?!?

I was disturbed to hear that CJ only had 16 donations. So I reupped for the second time. However I don't know how long my wife will let me carry some of you. So to all who use the resources here ANTE UP! Days are burning as the indicator out front shows.

Talking It's On It's Way

Well it was time to belly up to the Bar, so $25 is heading out via PayPal to help keep OUR site up and running! I have to admit that I have been a little remiss in sending it out. (It has been one of those "going to do" things) Thanks for the reminder.

Now to all the Members of this site that have not sent in a couple of Clams to help keep this site running, buy just one less case fan for your system and use that money to help OUR site stay here for all to enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It amazes me... How many of us have spent thousands on hardware and hundreds on software ? I know I have ! I couldn't believe it when I read how many members this forum has, and yet how few have actually donated. I have only been a member a few days; but already I have found a wealth of information here... I have just sent my Paypal donation, and highly encourage all others here to do the same !

Keep this great resource alive !!

Way to go Darrel!

I find it a little surprising also...I know things can be a little tight after the holidays, but this site has helped a lot of folks out of a bind...and you couldn't find a friendlier bunch that are willing to help.

It surely wouldn't hurt a few more folks to help out...I guess not enough really appreciate the value here...

It's too bad that so few people donate. Lets go guys, even 5 dollars will help. Just think about how much money you saved by following the good advices here.

Probably within the first week the PayPal banner was displayed I sent in a donation. Honestly I felt I was obligated to do so. I have learned so much from the experts that are here (and I hope I contributed a little also) and have had many problems taken care of, I felt it was just the right thing to do. The tips, tricks, advice, solutions, friendliness - it's all here.
