Linux/OS Reference/Experiences with Asus motherboards

Hey everyone!

I recently found this great site, and became a member because I have quite an interest in Asus motherboards; and I'll probably upgrade each time with a new one, so I'm happy to join you guys for this very informative site. If I might be so bold, so early in my stay here, I'd like to offer a suggestion for the admin' s consideration....

The thing I'd like to see with the board, or some board/site, is a listing of Linux user's experiences with the individual Asus motherboards. [I know that the Asusboards forum already has an OS section, but it seems more to be used for questions about the OS, rather than a reference to Asus hardware.]

For example, I'm contemplating a purchase of the P4S333/P4S533 board, and I wonder if its safe to just get something that new and have Linux run on it, as Linux is my main home OS.

Maybe some Asusboard admin will see this and run with the idea, or there may be some place on the board for me to post this suggestion. But it surely would be a beneficial reference, especially since more and more or us are Linux users these days.

And if we wanted to more fully develop this idea, we could try making partitions to guys other OSs, rather than just Linux, and how they run on each of the Asus boards. And users can tell how the OSs have worked for them.

And heck, lets pioneer the revolution to have Asus test out Linux, or other OSs, with their hardware, or at least report the status of being able to run a certain OS on their hardware. It's not just a Windows world out here. :-)

Thumbs up

I've voiced my support for this idea here:

http://www.asusboards.com/forums/sho...threadid=14080

Now, I'll do it here too!

I think this is a great idea and would be a good expansion to the reviews Prometheus and others post regarding motherboards and other hardware components. It would be nice to have a specific area for info. regarding hardware components. Perhaps the subject lines could have a standard format such as:

OS:Component Type:Component Name
(i.e. LINUX:Motherboard:ASUS P3BF)

With all of the members here, I'm sure a lot of hardware has been covered. Let's get all that info. together in one spot.
