I agree with the done deal part and the focus on what's ahead.

I just want the 90 day banned members to know that some of us would like to welcome them back to ABX if they choose to return.

I think the point has been made enough now about old members. Let's not waste another 100 posts on that subject or this thread will be of no further use.

How about some other ideas please?

You are entitled to your opinion Bofinn.

However the "Old member" thing is not a waste of posts IMO.

Some of us feel that there are things to be learned about what happened.

I was thinking on some of the old threads the Happy Birthday thread and what not that if they come back, make it so that instead of every post on that thread triggers it for the front page have it a ratio of like 5/1 or 10/1 that it then goes back onto the front page. I think this way those threads comeback, but are not overpowering the front page.

A major Kudos for the Audio/Video Zone forum. I think that was a great idea. Another Idea I have also is for the main page and Who's online. I would like to see that if my friends are online that if we could have a different font color for friends and for mods/ and review team so we can know who is what and here. As it is the bold for Mods helps and the Italics for the review is nice, it is often hard to read since the names are all crammed in there pretty good.
My last thing is are we going to have the logon option back on the front page again? I really miss having that when I am at work, since I usually like to see what hot threads are going on from the front page. As it is I get into from the forums page and then have to exit back out to the main page to see what is going on.

Have a "My Favorite Threads" button in the tool bar. This would be just like a bookmark location where a member can save a link to a thread that they might want to access at a later date and time. i.e. tutorials, reviews, etc.

Paragon

I have another idea concerning the Front page and Forums. Take the following and move them to the front page.

1. News and Announcements - that should be the first thing we see when we are on the homepage. (latest threads from News and Announcements). Limit between 3 to 5 threads listed from forum.

2. ABX Labs - should follow right after News and Announcements. The same should apply here as well. 3 to 5 threads from the forum.

1 and 2 don't have to be threads. They can be articles of interests/information/news..etc

3. Sticky Graveyard under ABX Files Zone should be relocated to the Twilight zone.

4. You have 9 Zones and 45 forums. Some of the forums need to be consolidated. Audio/video with sound/multimedia should be under one forum. A64 chipsets should be combined. Amd chipsets should be combined. Intel Platform and Intel Chipset should be one forum.

5. Once you have some forums combined, you now have some room to put the Active Threads at the top of the Forums Page.

6. ABX Homepage additions. You might consider recognizing ABXZone Team 1714 Folding members on their achievements. Have a box to the left or right saying "Congrats to Whomever" for X number of points or as a team or teams.

7. Crazer has some good ideas concerning an ABXZone team 1714 give a way or drawing for folding members. It's a good idea. Maybe have it under Announcements or something to promote it. Link:Suggestion thread for our folding team!!

Sorry for the long thread. Just another of my .02c

phalinx,

Almost every suggestion you made in post # 40 will be implemented maybe not exactly as you worded it but close...The forums will definitely be consolidated, they are very confusing for new and old member alike. We also have ideas for giving the Folding Team the kudos it so richly deserves which I think in some cases go even beyond some of your suggestions...I think you will be happy with the end result, hopefully within the next two weeks or less we can begin posting some screen shots for all to view.

This forum is pretty relaxed place. Mods generally will only jump in when a thread becomes a flame war or the rules have been blatently disregarded.

The only thing that may help is some forums such as the Linux and other Os's forum needs a bit of tidying up. Apart from that all is good.

Thank you for your reply. I probably didn't realize that the suggestions were already made, I hope I didn't over step any boundries. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your screen shots.

how about....increased avatar size!!!...I've been pushing for larger avatars for years (OK maybe not years)

the latest VB software allows for larger avatars so I think the time is right...

one other comment....

regarding the banned members (or rather 1 particular banned member)...I still speak to Traveler on another forum and I have no doubt that he realizes his mistake and the fact that he overreacted to the whole rep system thing....everyone makes mistakes in life and I think it would say a lot about ABX if his banishment were revoked and he was given a second chance...other banned members have done far worse things (Syncmaster comes to mind) and deserve permanent banishment but others really do deserve a second life...especially one that served as a model member for so many years before one unfortunate incident occured

OK one more thing...

Paragon brought up the birthday threads again....just when the dust was settling and all the members started accepting the fact that B-Day threads were gone it was brought back up again....

Actually I was responding to another member's suggestion in this thread concerning the Birthday threads...It was stated when conversation ensued after they were taken away that a mechanical posting of all members birthdays would be considered and I was just stating that with the new forums most likely that will take place. Members may then respond to that thread in any manner they see fit in keeping with the rules of course...that way no one's birthday is left to chance...if a member doesn't want to participate he/she can simply remove their birthday from their personal information.
