I don't think vB allows for something like that out of the box... if in the end we do decide we need such an option we would have to install a vB hack.

Personally I think the avatars ar big enough... too much big flashing objects on internet pages these days anyway... I like the quite look of our forum.. But that's my $0.01

Perhaps a solution to this would be to give members the choice of seeing large Ave's or small ones. It may mean members who want to display a large ave must also submit a small one too or perhaps ABX may be able to do this automatically or it may not be possible with the software but its a thought.

And it sounds like a great idea.

After a while we'll probably compile a list of suggestions and discuss them further...

Here's my opinion and it won't win me any pointers and I'm laying it on the line, get rid of some of the moderators, in my opinion there's too many, aka the old saying of too many chiefs and not enough indians. No offense to any one from India or who is Native American, of course.

Also if someone posts something in the wrong forum, move it to the correct forum, instead of this lame a$$ed policy of leaving a post where it was posted. Case and point, within the past few weeks, somebody posted the following threads to Other Components & Peripherals and the mods, who basically don't care about keeping things in the proper fourms let these posts stay there.

SATA or IDE?
This one above should have been in Drives & Controllers

PSU Choose...
http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93132
These two posts above, should not have been in Other Components & Periperhals, which is a forum for Discussions, troubleshooting, and tweaks related to peripherals such as monitors, card readers and everything else out side the case. They should have been in Cases, PSU's, and Mods.

I'm getting really sick and tired of seeing garbage like this and the moderators and administrators not doing anything about it, such as moving the posts to the correct forums and just letting posts such as I outlined above sit in the correct forum. This board used to be good, but that changed when there got to be too many mods, and they started letting posts such as those above sit in the wrong forum, without moving them to the correct forum.

This may not win me any points, and I could, admittedly get in to big trouble for this, but I don't care anymore, and this had to be said. If you want to know which moderators should be canned, I'll tell you, but only in a private message.

ATINUT, I am going to firmly, but respectfully, disagree with your opinion.

First of all, I think that the number of mods is perfect right now. The typical coverage is just enough so that they can take care of their mod stuff, but still be able to enjoy the forums. If you cut the number of mods in half, they would have even MORE junk to do, and less time to actually post and enjoy the forums.

Second, you are getting incredibly nitpicky. For instances, do you think a PSU item should be under the general umbrella of "Cases, Cooling & Mods Zone" or "Components & Peripherals Zone"? Since it doesn't really have anything to do with Cases, Cooling, or Mods and since it is a Component, I would vote the latter. In which case, "Other Components & Periperhals" actually is the better venue for the topic IMHO.

Besides, none of these topics are like putting a for sale ad in a chipset forum or a software question under the AMD zone. You are really just being far too nitpicky. None of these are examples of gross incompetence, only examples of individuals attempting to put things where they think they belong but not doing so in a way which meets your 100% approval. Well, people aren't perfect, deal with it.

And, one more thing, you're attitude about being "sick and tired of seeing garbage like this" doesn't exactly mesh with our mission. Read the motto for the website, "Supporting computers and building friendships." If you don't want to do the latter (which is evident by your bickering) then you should move along. There are plenty of sites around the net where people complain and yell all day long that would be perfect. You made a decision to sign-up for these forums, you can make a decision to leave. Instead of posting some iffy examples of how moderators could have done their job differently, why dont you instead look at all the threads they do merge and change threads around. After doing that, if you think they can improve, let them know in a CONSTRUCTIVE way. Don't tell them that their website is going to garbage and that it is their fault and hope that you get a positive response.

I do understand you are upset, but I personally think you should change your attitude, or don't bother posting here (by the way, I hope you pick the former). Besides, you complaining in a rude and discrespectful (IMHO) way is not going to make you feel any better, or create any positive change.

Thanks for pointing out those threads ATINUT. I took care of them. Sorry for none of us catching those threads. I'm going through a very rough time so my time with ABX has been severely limited the past 45 days. Hopefully, I will be of more help in the near future.

If you think a thread should be moved, click on the "Report Bad Post" icon, and tell a mod you think it needs to be moved.

it's that easy...

So many threads in the wrong forums

in regards to mods...the election of forum moderators is not a democratic process...they are chosen by the Admins and other mods ast their discretion based on who they feel are knowledable and can do the job well...CJ and Paragon have the first and last word when it comes to choosing Mods

I can't help, but wonder which moderators made it to ATINUT's "hit list". However, I want to say that while some moderators may appear to be sleepers to the public eye, the story would be different if you knew what happened inside the staff forums.

Of course, some of us are just lazy jerks who don't feel the need to excuse that .

I also want to support the notion that people who want to help out should use the reporting system!

Whether if you are a mod or not, we are all here to help one another with problems that may arrive. I check this site on a regular basis and I help/pass along information that I feel may help an individual or individuals with a problem.

ALL of us(members) and non-members alike, have a responsiblilty to make sure that we respect one anothers opinions, behave in a manor that is not offensive to others, and ask for/contribute any information that may benefit either yourself or other members of ABXZone.

Remember, we are here with one goal in mind --- group effort

How about removing all inactive members from the members list who have not posted in the last year or so? When I first joined ABX, I wanted a name that was already taken by a member who had 4 posts in 2001 and has been inactive since.

I seem to remember that this comes up now and again.
It has something to do with the number of registered members being of some value somehow.

If I'm wrong ... it wouldn't be the first time

Maybe that member hasn't had any problems for the last 4 years.
