What's the point of making the maximum size even bigger, I wonder?

I dont see a reason why to make them bigger. I would rather not see any then have them bigger then they are now.

I'm for bigger avatars...why not make them bigger?...the slow load time reason is pretty much non-existent nowadays due to the prevalence of high speed connections...this site is already known for being filled with older members who are not hard core tech people...good way to somewhat open things up for new members

if that was the case then why do pretty much all forums allow avatars...I think people do care about avatars (especially younger people) because it allows them to express their creativity (along with their sigs)...and most of them allow big to even huge avatars...obviously people are still visiting those forums and contributing...and by the way those other forums get 10 times more active posts/hits then ABX gets...so they must be doing something right...SRT you sound like that "older" demo

"Why not" is a fair point as always, I guess.

As for larger avatars being an incentive to join for prospective members, I doubt the avatar size much of a deal-breaker. Bringing in new members is more about visibility and drive than anything else, I'd say. We're lacking in both, that's why the membership trend is pretty flat, if not negative.

For those who don't like avatars, it's easy to turn them off in the User CP under Edit Options. They ain't going away, that's for sure.

Suggest a new maximum size. I mean, we can always discuss it. Personally, I don't give a hoot as long as they aren't 200x200 or something. That's when they start taking up so much room it may become a problem layout-wise. (I guess I can always resize them with a Greasemonkey script or a Stylish-style if need be.)

But i wanna to talk to the nice members here, i don't want to be bothered by their appearance or there plump ways of pictural conversation.

What avatar do i have now? Does it fit into bigger frame?

I'd like to see them around 110x110 or even 120x120.

If for no reason other than every time I find an avie I like it's always too big and I need to beg someone to make it smaller....

I don't understand what you mean by this...the current max size of avatars here at ABX is not the max allowable avatar size for vBulletin 3.6...even earlier versions of vBulletin allowed much bigger avatar sizes...other forums that I am registered with that use vB have much bigger avatar sizes

as far as a requested size...I'm with JoeFrat--120 x 120 sounds good...plus those that don't like large avatars can always keep their current ones or just continue using smaller ones...everyone wins!!

The allowable size of avatars in vB is arbitrary, you can set it to be pretty much anything (I'm guessing there's an upper limit of MAX_INT due to the database field). What I meant by "maximum size" was the imposed limit here, 90x90 currently.

I guess I just wanted to read a motivation for why it should be increased. I'm not suggesting mine was a good question to begin with...
