| computer wont shut down Hi, am both new to this forum and to forums in general, and not much better on computers so be patient with me. I have got a computer that we bought for christmas, but everytime we shut the computer down it instantly reboots??!! I have to close it down by holding the power button in, and then the keyboard stays lit until I turn the plug socket off. I have tried disconnecting everything that might cause a proble like printer, usb hub etc and even the lan router, but it still does it. It is a complete Packard Bell base, lcd monitor, keyboard, and I tried swapping my usb mouse for the original but it still does it!!! It is using Vista ultimate service pack 1 ?? anyone have any ideas please???? |

| It has been a while, but had the same issue on two different computers. On one computer it was caused by a USB printer and the other one was caused by a driver. The issue with drivers are that it's a very time consuming process to solve, especially if one doesn't have the experience and the time. Another issue is that it's difficult to troubleshoot this problem without actually working on the PC. There's a Microsoft process (case) to help solve this issue, though it's not that simple to follow all instructions. I don't know what case number is, but perhaps someone here knows.
