MS Windows Fax and Scan has stopped working Recently when I tried to send fax through my laptop, the above error message pop up, stating that " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available ". When I first got my laptop, it was working normally. Any solutions is appreciated. :newbie:

Hiya! This usually means that something on your system has changed which has caused the error. I think your first port of call is to reinstall the fax software (if you are using third party software) and if that doesn't work, doing a system restore to a time before the error occured. If niether of those help, give us details of the software incase it is a specific issue with it. crabby

Hi and thanks for the reply. Actually the fax software came inclusive with the Ms Vista Business OS package and I am avoiding doing system restore for various reasons. 1) Don't know exactly when it stopped working, 2) Not willing to loosing all the softwares/program installed and updating. Dell Customer Service was not much help as they only advised me to restore the pc to original state (when pc was first bought).

Have you tried removing it as a 'windows component' from the 'Programs and features' area in your 'Control Panel'? If you can remove it, then reboot, then re-install it... the installation should be back to standard. The only other issue I can think of is that Windows update updated the driver of your fax hardware... so if the re-install doesn't work you could go to 'Device manager' and 'Roll back' the driver? If you can't figure out how to do either of those things, just let me know! crabby
