Printer help

I installed a Lexmark 730 printer w/no obvious problems detected.(Dell Inspiron1525.lap-top, w/Vista Home Ed,) But when I try and print a doc from notepad I get the error: The handle is invalid"
Should I uninstall/reinstall? And try again? Nothing wrong with printer, 'cause it works fine with Windows XP desktop

Hey Walt!

Most people find that this error is due tro a bad install, so a restore and reinstall usually works. If it doesn't post back

Guest Printer

I have a two printers installed as Admin. When trying to install them for Guest I get message saying "don't have permission". How do I get these installed for Guest?
Thanks!

The first thing I would say is that the drivers need to be installed as admin.
The second thing I would say is, what problem are you actually having printing? (The installation can't be the only problem?)
The third thing I would ask is what printers?

I'm sure we can sort it

Do printers installed on the admin account not automatically go to all other accounts? So it should work if you just install it from admin?

Hp Laserjer 1200 and hp1210. I can see them both in the printer list but when trying to print a document they are not an option. They both print fine when I'm logged on as Admin but not as Guest. I cannot 'install printer' when logged on as Guest.

I must admit I am really confused. Can you not set a printer as default? Most HP drivers come preinstalled on Vista as they have a partnership.

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers... unplugging the printer... logging into the guest account... then connecting the printers to different USB ports? The drivers should auto install and once they are set as default they should work fine.

Yes, I can and have set the printer as default. But when trying to print something those two printers are not shown and will not print to them. I will try unplug them and rebooting the system and then plugging-in to see if they will auto-install as Guest. Doesn't make sense to me either!

What happens if you run a program you want to print from as admin... do they show up then?
